Overview

CTG is seeking to fill a Backend Developer - SQL, .NET, Python opening for our client in Philadelphia, PA.

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Duration: 12 months

Overview:
The Backend Developer will provide design and technical direction in the development of new or existing applications to solve complex problems. This role involves serving as a principal application designer, ensuring solutions are technologically sound, and providing analytical leadership. The engineer will engage in day-to-day support activities and special projects, while directing and mentoring less experienced personnel.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete and oversee systems analysis, design, and development for projects of varying complexity.
  • Act as an individual contributor on complex projects, maintaining a strong understanding of supported applications.
  • Direct and monitor the work of less experienced team members, coordinating development tasks on projects of all sizes.
  • Prepare and manage the technical components of project plans.
  • Collaborate with Development, Operations, and Technology staff throughout the systems development lifecycle, from technical analysis to user acceptance testing.
  • Prepare test data, execute detailed test plans, and perform debugging as required.
  • Analyze and understand the complex interrelationships among programs and applications.
  • Provide analytical consulting to identify and implement new uses of information technologies aligned with business objectives.
  • Prepare and review comprehensive technical and functional specifications and documentation.
  • Maintain efficient operation of supported applications and recommend improvements or new technologies.
  • Promote and follow development standards and procedures.
  • Assist in developing expense and capital budgets as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to the company's risk and regulatory standards, escalating risk-related issues as needed.
  • Support diversity initiatives that reflect the company brand and values.

Scope of Responsibilities:
The position operates under the supervision of the Technology Team Lead and is expected to work independently on high-level systems analysis and technical development phases. The Software Engineer II will manage project activities for both small and large scope efforts, interact with senior management, and serve as a technical representative on various committees or projects.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree and 5 years of systems analysis/application development experience, or a combined minimum of 7 years of higher education and/or work experience, including 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with application development software and hardware platforms.
  • Proficiency in personal computers and relevant project management, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple complex projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in presenting to varied audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, detail-oriented with strong lateral thinking skills.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Good understanding of the Bank's application framework.
  • Subject matter expertise in the business with knowledge or experience utilizing the supported application/system.
  • Advanced understanding of supported applications and knowledge of interfacing applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in both team environments and autonomously.
  • Strong multitasking skills for various components of complex projects.
  • Action-oriented and proactive in approach.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
