Agentic AI/Python Engineer
Location: Concord, CA (3days in hybrid)
Duration: 12+ Months Contract
Pay Rate: $70-80/hour

Position Overview

  • We are seeking a Senior Agentic AI Engineer to join a technology-focused team building and enhancing next-generation AI agents and Generative AI solutions.

  • This is a hands-on engineering opportunity for someone who is passionate about emerging AI technologies and wants to work on production-grade Agentic AI applications. The team is actively moving AI agents into production and will continue developing new agents while enhancing existing solutions.

  • The ideal candidate is a strong Python engineer with deep hands-on experience in Agentic AI, LLMs, RAG, vector technologies, and AI guardrails.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy production-ready AI agents and Agentic AI workflows.

  • Build new agents and continuously enhance existing agents based on business and technical requirements.

  • Develop LLM-powered applications using RAG, vector search, embeddings, and related technologies.

  • Build agent workflows that can interact with tools, APIs, databases, and other enterprise systems.

  • Implement guardrails, validation, and controls to improve the reliability, safety, and accuracy of AI agents.

  • Evaluate and improve agent responses, workflows, retrieval quality, and overall system performance.

  • Work with MongoDB and vector-based data architectures.

  • Review, validate, test, and improve AI-generated code and outputs to ensure they meet software engineering and quality standards.

  • Collaborate with engineering and business teams to translate requirements into scalable AI solutions.

  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and productionize existing Agentic AI applications.

  • Stay current with emerging AI tools, frameworks, models, and development practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional Python development experience.

  • 2+ years of hands-on Agentic AI / AI Agent development experience.

  • Strong understanding of Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs).

  • Strong hands-on experience developing RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) solutions.

  • Experience with vector databases, vector search, embeddings, and semantic retrieval.

  • Strong experience with MongoDB.

  • Experience designing and implementing AI agent guardrails and validation mechanisms.

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including API development, testing, debugging, code review, and production deployment.

  • Demonstrated experience building or enhancing AI agents, preferably in a production environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Agentic AI frameworks such as:

  • Lang-Graph

  • Lang-Chain

  • CrewAI

  • AutoGen

  • Semantic Kernel

  • Experience with multi-agent architectures, tool/function calling, agent memory, and orchestration.

  • Experience with AI coding/development tools and AI-generated code validation.

  • Experience with Cloud.

  • Experience with MongoDB Atlas / MongoDB Vector Search.

  • Experience with AI evaluation, observability, prompt management, or LLM monitoring.

  • Financial services or banking industry experience is a plus.

What We're Looking For

  • We are looking for someone who is a strong software engineer first and an AI/Agentic AI engineer second.

  • The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience taking Agentic AI concepts beyond experimentation and into real-world, production-ready applications. You should be comfortable working with rapidly evolving AI technologies, evaluating new AI tools, and building reliable solutions around LLMs and AI agents.

  • Candidates with only basic ChatGPT/OpenAI API integration, prompt engineering, or traditional Machine Learning experience without substantial Agentic AI development experience will not be the target profile.
