Many teams utilize Python for scripting workflows, managing databases, building APIs, or developing machine learning models. The exact nature of your work will often depend on the industry and organization, but collaboration with other developers, data analysts, or IT professionals is common. Certified Python professionals are frequently trusted with higher responsibility, including contributing to code reviews and designing scalable solutions.

What is the difference between Python Certification vs Data Analyst?

AspectPython CertificationData Analyst
Required CredentialsCertification in Python programmingDegree in Data Science, Statistics, or related field
Work EnvironmentSoftware development, automation, scriptingData analysis, reporting, business insights
Industry UsageTech, finance, automationBusiness, marketing, finance
Search & Comparison IntentLearning Python skills, certification benefitsUnderstanding roles, skills, and certifications for data analysis

Python Certification focuses on validating Python programming skills, often used in software development and automation. Data Analysts utilize Python for data manipulation and analysis but typically require a broader skill set including statistical knowledge and domain expertise. While Python Certification enhances technical credentials, Data Analyst roles emphasize a combination of technical and analytical skills. Both are valuable in data-driven industries, but they serve different career paths and skill requirements.

What can you do with a certificate in Python?

A Python certification can qualify you for roles such as Python developer, data analyst, or automation engineer. It demonstrates proficiency in programming, scripting, and problem-solving, often enabling work in software development, data analysis, machine learning, and automation tasks.

Are Python still in demand in 2026?

Python certification remains highly valuable for developers, data scientists, and automation specialists, as Python continues to be widely used across industries for web development, data analysis, machine learning, and scripting. Its versatility, extensive libraries, and strong community support contribute to sustained demand for Python skills in the job market through 2026.

What kind of job can I get with Python?

Python certification can qualify you for roles such as Python developer, data analyst, data scientist, automation engineer, or backend developer. These jobs often require knowledge of libraries like Pandas, NumPy, or frameworks such as Django and Flask, and may involve working in environments like cloud platforms or data centers.

What is a Python certification and why is it important?

A Python certification is an official credential that demonstrates a person's proficiency and knowledge in the Python programming language. Earning a certification can help validate your skills to employers, making you stand out in the job market. It often covers topics such as syntax, data structures, algorithms, and usage of Python libraries. Obtaining a certification can also provide structured learning and boost your confidence in applying Python in real-world projects. While not always required, it can be particularly beneficial for those new to programming or seeking to advance their careers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Python Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Python Developer, you need strong proficiency in Python programming, a solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and often a relevant degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with development frameworks (like Django or Flask), version control systems such as Git, and relevant Python certifications are commonly expected. Problem-solving ability, adaptability, and effective communication are valuable soft skills that set top candidates apart. These competencies enable developers to write efficient, maintainable code and collaborate well within development teams on complex projects.

Are Python certifications worth getting?

Python certifications can enhance a Python developer's resume by validating skills and knowledge in the language, which may improve job prospects. However, practical experience and project work often weigh more heavily with employers than certifications alone. They are most beneficial when combined with hands-on coding and relevant job experience.

Job description

Databricks Administrator / DBA

Hybrid in Troy NY or Needham MA

18 Months Contract

Summary

The Senior Data Platform Engineer / DBA manages our database and data platform fleet, maintaining secure, optimized, and highly available databases, data warehouses, and lakehouses. Our stack is evolving - Redshift remains a core platform, and we are actively expanding into Databricks and open table format (Apache Iceberg on S3)

This role works closely with engineering and analytics teams to design, implement, and maintain these systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Redshift clusters, Databricks workspaces, RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL instances, and supporting AWS infrastructure
  • Perform user/security tasks across platforms: Redshift user/group management, Databricks Unity Catalog access controls, IAM Roles/Policies, RDS parameter and access management
  • Design and maintain open table format data lakes using Apache Iceberg on S3, including compaction, snapshot management, partition strategies, and schema evolution
  • Profile production workloads and develop strategies to run optimized clusters and workspaces with scale and efficiency
  • Provide architecture guidance and support to technical leads; help develop code and SQL for data assets, identify performance tuning opportunities, and work with developers to improve production systems
  • Contribute to and maintain automation scripts and internal tooling with production-quality code standards (unit tests, peer review, documentation, Git-based workflows)
  • Develop monitoring and recovery automation to identify and resolve issues to meet our high SLA
  • Research new technologies and develop proofs of concept; propose technical improvements and new capabilities

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with AWS data services: Redshift, RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, S3, EC2, Athena, Glue, Lake Formation
  • 2+ years of experience with Databricks: workspace administration, Unity Catalog, cluster management, Spark SQL, Delta Live Tables or similar
  • 2+ years of experience with PostgreSQL or Aurora PostgreSQL: query tuning, replication concepts, pg_stat views, parameter groups
  • 2+ years of experience with AWS Security: IAM (Users, Groups, Roles, Policies, Instance Profiles), Redshift/RDS security, S3 bucket policies

Preferred

  • PySpark for data pipeline development
  • AWS Glue with Iceberg or Delta Lake integration
  • Snowflake administration
  • Terraform or AWS CDK for infrastructure as code
  • DynamoDB experience
  • Feature Store

Technology

  • Experience with Apache Iceberg on S3: partition management, compaction, snapshot management, schema evolution
  • Proficiency in Python for automation and shared tooling: object-oriented design, writing maintainable and testable code, participating in code review, and contributing to a shared Git-based codebase
  • Experience automating database and platform operations using Python, Jenkins, Airflow, Datadog and Git

Soft Skills

  • Ability to read, understand, debug, and extend complex Python codebases; comfort navigating large repositories with multiple modules and abstractions
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to lead projects, prioritize, and multitask
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Part of on-call rotation
