Sr. Analyst, Strategic Finance

HONK

Chicago, IL • On-site

$120K - $140K/yr

Job description

Honk is a technology-driven roadside assistance platform that connects enterprise and retail customers with a nationwide network of service providers. We don't own trucks. We built the marketplace, the dispatch engine, and the data infrastructure that makes the whole thing work. We're PE-backed, scaling fast, and aggressively investing in automation / AI and excellent talent.
The Role
This role will be a key asset in the future growth of the company. Think of it as not just FP&A but also analytics and business operations. In this role, you'll drive investment decisions by deeply understanding and modeling the drivers of the business. This function will act as the analytical engine of the company to provide insights and support 'optimal' decision-making. You'll partner directly with ops, sales, and the exec team as their strategic finance co-pilot, rather than a back-office scorekeeper. You'll also interact with our PE partners on financial performance and health metrics. The position reports to the CFO.
What You'll Do/Own
  • Unit-level economic analysis by customer, market, and job type, using it to partner with the business on where to push and where to pull back.
  • Quantify the impact of our investments through analysis and experimentation, working closely with product and operations.
  • Pressure-test new investments. Build the 80/20 ROI case to make go/no-go decisions.
  • Help secure new customers by refining and owning our pricing models.
  • Build and own the company's financial forecast and annual plan. Set the cadence, drive the inputs for each function, and hold the business to the number.
  • Analyze business and financial performance each month. Name, quantify and explain the drivers simply and succinctly, internally and to our PE partners.
  • Automate the reporting grind (Looker / Excel / Python) so your time goes to insight, not data wrangling.

What You Bring
  • 4-6 years in corporate finance, business operations/analytics, investment banking, or private equity. High-growth, tech environments are strongly preferred.
  • Fluency in unit economics and contribution-margin thinking. You see a P&L as a system of drivers, not a stack of line items.
  • Strong financial modeling. You build three-statement, scenario, and sensitivity models with curiosity and business acumen.
  • SQL, Python, and BI tools like Looker and Tableau. You either know them or you'll learn them fast. Same goes for using Claude and other AI tools to automate the reporting grind and move faster than the team that's still doing it by hand.
  • Bachelor's in finance, economics, accounting, or a quantitative field.
  • Marketplace, on-demand, logistics, or insurance-adjacent experience a plus.
  • High tolerance for speed, ambiguity, and direct feedback. You go from raw data to a recommendation without being managed to it.

$120,000 - $140,000 a year
