Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) is the premier provider of emergency and scheduled ambulance services in Central and Western Illinois, as well as parts of Iowa. AMT is a private, not-for-profit organization operated for community benefit.
The IT Operations Manager will work closely with the IT Director, IT staff, vendors, and other departments to support cost-effective technology solutions that meet AMT's vision, goals, and growth strategies. The IT Operations Manager is a hands-on leadership position responsible for assisting with the daily management of IT operations while also serving as a technical contributor across systems administration, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, security operations, patching, documentation, and escalated support. This role provides day-to-day guidance to assigned IT staff, assists with prioritization of work, and helps ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of AMT's technology environment.
Job Duties:
  1. Assist with daily IT operations, service delivery, staff workload, ticket prioritization, and escalation management.
  2. Provide day-to-day guidance to assigned IT staff, including coaching, workload coordination, time-off requests, and input into performance evaluations.
  3. Support the Director of IT in maintaining an effective, responsive, secure, and well-documented IT department.
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve escalated second-tier and selected third-tier technical issues in a timely manner that limits business impact.
  5. Administer and maintain Windows server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, permissions, and identity management services.
  6. Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Entra ID, licensing, and related security features.
  7. Support endpoint management, mobile device management, imaging, application deployment, and endpoint security platforms.
  8. Support cybersecurity operations including security alert review, vulnerability remediation, access reviews, application control, patching, and incident response activities.
  9. Manage or assist with enterprise backup systems, system backup verification, recovery testing, and disaster recovery readiness.
  10. Support VMware virtualization infrastructure, storage systems, and related infrastructure services.
  11. Troubleshoot basic to intermediate network-related issues including LAN, WLAN, VPN, VLAN, firewall, and site-to-site connectivity.
  12. Support business-critical systems including CAD, Zoll, reporting systems, SQL-backed applications, and vendor-supported platforms as needed.
  13. Develop or maintain scripts and automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or comparable tools to improve operational efficiency.
  14. Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, software functionality, security processes, and operational procedures.
  15. Help develop and maintain processes, checklists, and procedures that improve IT efficiency, reliability, security, and accountability.
  16. Assist with compliance-related technology requirements, reporting, documentation, and evidence gathering in support of HIPAA, CAAS, and other organizational needs.
  17. Communicate with departments regarding technology-related items and explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical staff.
  18. Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours and emergency support.
  19. Demonstrate a commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
  20. Perform other related duties as assigned.

  1. Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field required.
  2. 3-5 years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, cybersecurity operations, IT operations, or a related Information Technology role.
  3. Previous experience providing technical guidance, mentoring, workload coordination, or supervision of IT staff preferred.
  4. Strong Windows desktop and Windows Server troubleshooting skills.
  5. Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, permissions, and identity management.
  6. Experience administering Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Entra ID, licensing, and related security capabilities.
  7. Experience with endpoint management, endpoint security platforms, mobile device management, VPN solutions, email security systems, and endpoint imaging tools.
  8. Experience with patch management, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening across servers, endpoints, and cloud services.
  9. Experience with VMware environments, backup systems, disaster recovery processes, and recovery testing preferred.
  10. Understanding of networking concepts including VLANs, routing, switching, wireless, VPN, and firewall troubleshooting.
  11. Experience with PowerShell or another scripting language for automation preferred.
  12. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  13. Ability to prioritize tasks based on business impact, risk, severity, and operational need.
  14. Ability to maintain and develop processes and procedures to improve operational efficiency, documentation, and security.
