What is Python automation testing?

Python Automation Testing refers to the process of using Python programming language to write scripts that automatically test software applications. These scripts can validate functionality, performance, and reliability of software, reducing the need for manual testing and speeding up the development cycle. Python is popular for automation testing because of its readability, extensive libraries like Selenium and PyTest, and strong community support. Automation tests can be integrated into continuous integration pipelines to ensure consistent quality across software releases.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed for Python automation testing?

To thrive as a Python Automation Testing professional, you need strong proficiency in Python programming, knowledge of software testing methodologies, and experience with test automation frameworks, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as Selenium, PyTest, Jenkins, and version control systems like Git is typically required, along with certifications like ISTQB being advantageous. Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help testers identify issues, collaborate with teams, and document findings clearly. These competencies ensure the creation of reliable, maintainable automated tests that improve software quality and streamline development cycles.

What are common challenges in Python automation testing, and how can they be addressed?

One common challenge in Python Automation Testing is maintaining test scripts as applications evolve, which can lead to flaky tests or outdated scripts. To address this, it's important to implement modular and reusable code, and regularly review and refactor test cases. Collaborating closely with developers and participating in code reviews can also help testers anticipate changes and adapt their tests proactively. Additionally, integrating robust reporting and logging mechanisms helps quickly identify and resolve issues, ensuring the reliability of the automated test suite.

What is the difference between Python Automation Testing vs Manual Software Testing?

Job description

Job Title: AI Architect

Job Description

This role leads the exploration, design, and implementation of AI and automation solutions that drive productivity and operational excellence across the organization. You will define and execute the AI pilot roadmap, establish internal AI standards and playbooks, and architect production-grade automations and Power Platform solutions. This position offers the opportunity to shape the company’s AI strategy from the ground up, partnering closely with business and technical stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the AI pilot roadmap, partnering with leaders across Administration, Engineering, IT, Energy Management, and other functions to identify, prioritize, and deliver high-value AI use cases.
  • Own the internal AI playbook and AI usage guidelines, establishing standards for approved tools, prompt patterns, guardrails, data handling, and proven workflows.
  • Document AI pilots, retrospectives, lessons learned, and recommendations to support broader rollout and continuous improvement.
  • Lead AI-related training, live demonstrations, and recurring office hours across the company, acting as a technical reference for power users and a constructive voice for staff who require deeper justification before adoption.
  • Evaluate emerging AI tools, vendors, and platforms, and recommend build-versus-buy decisions while clearly presenting outcomes, return on investment, and risks to leadership.
  • Establish and maintain standards for automation and Power Platform solutions, including code quality, testing practices, documentation, release coordination, and post-deployment monitoring to ensure long-term maintainability and reliable handoffs.
  • Architect and deliver production-grade automations using Python (including Docker-based deployments), AWS Lambda or comparable serverless platforms, Microsoft 365, and supporting scripts in PowerShell, JavaScript, or SQL.
  • Own code quality, monitoring, documentation, and handoff standards for all automation solutions to ensure they are robust, maintainable, and well-understood by stakeholders.
  • Identify high-impact automation opportunities across departments, and lead discovery, scoping, solution design, and end-to-end delivery with limited oversight.
  • Provide technical guidance on selected IT and Microsoft 365 administrative tasks, partnering with IT on security, identity, and integration considerations.
  • Co-administer Power Apps used by Business Development, Construction, and Engineering Operations in collaboration with the Data Analytics Engineer, and lead enhancement design discussions and backlog prioritization with a third-party development partner.
  • Own permissions, roles, data quality, and day-to-day administration across Dataverse and related environments, ensuring consistent governance and reliability.
  • Lead testing cycles, release coordination, and post-release validation for Power Platform solutions to ensure smooth deployments and high user satisfaction.
  • Lead Salesforce-to-Power App data migration validation and reconciliation, and provide cutover support to ensure accurate and reliable data transitions.
  • Build and maintain Power App dashboards for pipeline, operations, and leadership reporting, ensuring they are accurate, insightful, and aligned with stakeholder needs.
  • Produce high-quality user guides, release notes, and training materials suitable for company-wide distribution to support adoption and effective use of AI and automation tools.
  • Communicate clearly with nontechnical stakeholders, translating business requirements into working solutions and constructively pushing back on scope or requirements when needed to maintain quality and feasibility.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience in business applications, automation, data engineering, AI/ML enablement, or a closely related field.
  • Production experience in at least two of the following: Python, AWS Lambda or comparable serverless platforms, REST API integrations, SQL.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading at least one AI or automation initiative from ideation through user adoption with measurable outcomes.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 fluency, including Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook, with the ability to translate business requirements from nontechnical stakeholders into working solutions.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document standards, present recommendations and findings to leadership, and constructively challenge scope or requirements.
  • Working knowledge of modern AI tools and patterns, including platforms such as ChatGPT and Copilot, software development kits (SDKs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and prompt design.
  • Hands-on experience with scripting and automation using languages such as Python, PowerShell, and JavaScript.
  • Practical experience with AWS and serverless architectures, particularly AWS Lambda, for building scalable automation solutions.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence concepts and applications in business contexts.
  • Experience with Power Platform and Dataverse administration, including managing permissions, roles, and data quality.
  • Ability to evaluate AI tools, vendors, and platforms and to articulate build-versus-buy trade-offs, ROI, and associated risks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Experience working with Power Apps in Business Development, Construction, or Engineering Operations environments.
  • Experience co-administering Power Apps and collaborating with Data Analytics or BI teams.
  • Experience in Salesforce-to-Power-App data migration, including validation, reconciliation, and cutover support.
  • Experience building dashboards and reporting solutions for operational and leadership audiences, particularly using Power Apps and related tools.
  • Exposure to C++ or C++ programming concepts, even if not a primary development language.
  • Experience working with CoPilot or similar AI-assisted development and productivity tools.
  • Comfort leading training sessions, demonstrations, and office hours to support user enablement and adoption.
  • Experience working with or within construction, engineering, or related industries is beneficial, particularly where AI and automation can enhance productivity and operations.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily in a professional office setting with a standard Monday through Friday schedule, generally aligned to normal 9–5 working hours. There is some potential for a hybrid work arrangement, combining on-site and remote work as business needs allow. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Administration, Engineering, IT, Energy Management, Business Development, Construction, and Operations. The technology environment includes Microsoft 365 (Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook), Power Platform (Power Apps, Dataverse), AWS Lambda and other serverless technologies, Python-based services (including Dockerized deployments), REST APIs, SQL, PowerShell, JavaScript, and modern AI tools such as ChatGPT and Copilot.
