Computershare Corporate Trust (CCT) is a division within Computershare responsible for providing trustee and sophisticated agency services for private and public companies, investment bankers, asset managers, government agencies and other financial institutions.
At this level, this role is responsible for highly complex, strategic analytics initiatives, often spanning multiple lines of business, datasets, and systems. The position partners closely with senior leadership to identify key business challenges and drive data-driven decision-making.
The role operates with significant autonomy and is expected to lead large-scale analytical efforts, contribute to strategic direction, and influence organizational outcomes. Engagement includes cross-functional and potentially enterprise-wide initiatives, with a strong focus on innovation, governance, and performance improvement.
A role you will love
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Business Rules Author / SQL-Python Developer to serve as a key liaison between Business Operations and Technology teams supporting residential onboarding and transaction processing. This role is responsible for translating business requirements into scalable system configurations, business rules, calculations, reporting, and workflow processes that support operational and client servicing objectives.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in SQL and Python with a solid understanding of data architecture, business process design, and operational controls. This individual will work closely with Operations, Product Management, Technology, Business Development, and other stakeholders to design, build, test, and maintain business rules and transaction configurations that support Residential Corporate Trust products and services.
As a Business Rules Author, you will play a critical role in onboarding new business by gathering requirements, defining transaction structures, configuring processing logic, and implementing rules that satisfy contractual obligations and client-specific requirements. You will support the development of calculations, waterfalls, eligibility criteria, classifications, reporting, and data quality controls while ensuring solutions are scalable, auditable, and compliant with internal policies and governance standards.
In addition, this role will contribute to data architecture and solution design efforts, maintain ownership of the business rules catalog, and support Agile development initiatives by creating high-quality, testable, and documented solutions that drive operational efficiency and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
  • Author and maintain SQL rules (Oracle SQL/PLSQL/Python) for validations, transformations, calculations, and workflow decisions across Corporate Trust processes.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Business Operations and Technology, translating client, contractual, and operational requirements into scalable, configurable technology solutions that support residential transaction onboarding and servicing.
  • Design, develop, and maintain SQL, PL/SQL, and Python business rules supporting transaction setup, validations, eligibility determinations, classifications, calculations, reporting, data transformations, and workflow decisioning processes.
  • Configure and implement new residential transactions and processing structures, including payment waterfalls, allocation methodologies, calculation logic, reporting requirements, and client-specific business rules.
  • Partner with Operations, Product Owners, Business Development, Risk, and Technology teams to gather requirements, evaluate impacts, and convert business objectives into deterministic, testable, and auditable rule logic.
  • Establish and maintain business rule development standards, including naming conventions, version control, dependency management, testing methodologies, documentation requirements, and change governance practices.
  • Lead methodology modernization initiatives, including the migration and transformation of legacy business logic into scalable Oracle SQL and Python-based solutions.
  • Own and govern the enterprise business rules catalog, ensuring comprehensive documentation of rule purpose, business justification, inputs, outputs, data lineage, thresholds, exception handling, approvals, and change history.
  • Treat rule frameworks, schemas, and reporting catalogs as strategic products, ensuring they remain reliable, scalable, well-documented, and continuously improved to meet evolving business needs.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive testing strategies, including unit testing, regression testing, expected-results validation, automated controls, and user acceptance testing support.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and business stakeholders to define acceptance criteria, validate requirements, and ensure solution readiness prior to deployment.
  • Design solutions for performance, scalability, and operational efficiency, optimizing processing across large datasets through effective query design, partitioning strategies, and incremental processing techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, risk management, and internal control standards, maintaining traceable, explainable, and audit-ready business rules and processes.
  • Implement and support governance controls, including approval workflows, role-based security, segregation of duties, and least-privilege access models.
  • Support data architecture and data modeling efforts, ensuring business rules align with enterprise data standards and long-term technology strategy.
  • Maintain detailed technical and business documentation, including rule logic, dependencies, data dictionaries, process flows, testing artifacts, and audit records.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues related to business rules, transaction processing, calculations, and reporting, conducting root-cause analysis and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Participate in Agile development processes, including requirements refinement, sprint planning, solution design, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes, improve operational controls, and enhance processing efficiency through innovative use of SQL, Python, and data-driven solutions.
