Applications Developer

Tcenergy

Charleston, WV • Hybrid

Full-time

Posted 9 days ago

Job description

Determined, imaginative, curious-if these are some of the ways you describe yourself, we want to learn more about you!

At TC Energy, we are proud to connect the world to the energy it needs. Guided by our values of safety in every step, personal accountability, one team and active learning, we deliver the critical energy that North America and the world rely on while balancing reliability, affordability and sustainability.

The Opportunity

Our US Commercial Application team is looking to add a dedicated, experienced individual in Charleston, WV to support the growing expectations demanded of our team The primary application in this portfolio is TC eConnects, a 24x7 custom application supporting multiple pipelines in North America.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated application developer, who has knowledge and experience in full stack software development and emerging AI technologies. This individual has the proven skills, competencies and capacity to own problems end-to-end, from analyzing a user-reported issue through writing and testing the solution across development and test environments. You'll leverage AI-assisted development tools (Kiro, Copilot) daily as a force multiplier for research, code generation, data analysis, and documentation.

What you'll do

  • Full-stack features using an AI-driven development lifecycle (AIDLC) - leveraging AI tools for requirements analysis, code generation, testing, and iterative refinement rather than writing everything from scratch

  • Angular components and services (PrimeNG, TypeScript) for the front-end application, with AI-assisted scaffolding, pattern adherence, and code review

  • Java middleware logic for business processes including EDI message processing, nomination workflows, and scheduling operations

  • SQL Server performance optimizations - execution plan analysis, index strategy design, stored procedure tuning, and statistics maintenance for tables with hundreds of millions of rows

  • AI-paired development is the standard workflow - you'll use tools like Kiro to rapidly prototype solutions, analyze data, review work items, draft documentation, and iterate in real-time

  • You'll develop and validate solutions across dev and test environments, coordinating with the team for production deployment through established change management processes

  • Collaborate with a technical SME for guidance on architecture, database strategy, and production-critical decisions

  • You're not writing CRUD endpoints all day. The work is investigative, analytical, and architectural - tracing performance degradation across Java middleware, database query plans, and infrastructure layers

  • Small team within a large enterprise. High ownership, minimal bureaucracy on the team level, but you'll navigate enterprise processes (change management, security, compliance) when needed

  • AI tools aren't optional extras - they're integrated into the daily workflow for data analysis, code generation, documentation, and cross-referencing multiple systems simultaneously

  • You'll work directly with business stakeholders (Gas Control, Scheduling, EDI operations) and collaborate with a technical SME for guidance on architecture, database strategy, and production-critical decisions - supporting a system that runs 24/7 for FERC-regulated pipeline operations

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years' experience in Application Development

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline

  • A combination of education and experience may be considered

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Gas pipeline commercial operations / NAESB EDI experience

    • SQL Server performance tuning (execution plans, indexing strategies)

    • Experience with regulated/24x7 production environments

    • Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows

    • Hands on experience with SQL Server 2019 Enterprise (AWS RDS), SSRS, SQL Agent, Java (WebSphere), Angular 17, PrimeNG, TypeScript, AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, SSM, EBS), Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure DevOps (CI/CD, repos, work items, build agents), PowerShell, Python, AI development tools (Kiro, GitHub Copilot)

    This position requires candidates to:

    • Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as required

To remain competitive, support our high-performance culture and allow for more flexibility in the way we work, we offer a hybrid work model and flexible dress code for our eligible office-based workforce in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. #LI-Hybrid

    About our business

We are a leader in North American energy infrastructure, spanning Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. Every day, our dedicated team proudly connects the world to the energy it needs-moving over 30 per cent of the cleaner-burning natural gas used across the continent. Complemented by strategic ownership and low-risk investments in power generation, our infrastructure fuels industries and generates affordable, reliable and sustainable power across North America, while enabling LNG exports to global markets.

TC Energy is an equal opportunity employer and participates in the E-Verify program supervised by the US government. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, religion, age, sex, color, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, or disability.
