What is a Pyramid Plus coach?

A Pyramid Plus coach is a professional who supports early childhood educators in implementing the Pyramid Plus Framework, which is a model designed to promote social, emotional, and behavioral competence in young children. Coaches provide training, resources, and on-site guidance to help teachers and caregivers effectively use evidence-based practices in classrooms and child care settings. Their goal is to improve outcomes for children by helping staff create positive, inclusive learning environments. Pyramid Plus coaches often work in schools, preschools, and early intervention programs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Pyramid Plus coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Pyramid Plus Coach, you generally need a background in early childhood education, experience with evidence-based teaching practices, and relevant certifications such as Pyramid Model or Pyramid Plus Approach training. Familiarity with classroom observation tools, coaching frameworks, and data collection systems like Teaching Strategies GOLD is typically required. Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills help coaches effectively support teachers and promote positive outcomes for children. These skills ensure that coaches can implement best practices, foster inclusive classrooms, and achieve meaningful improvements in early childhood settings.
