Extrusion Operator

Location: Bristol, TN
Department: Manufacturing
Reports To: Production Supervisor/Lead
Status: Full-Time

Position Summary

Westlake Royal Building Products is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Extrusion Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will set up and operate a minimum of six extrusion lines producing PVC plastic mouldings while ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety standards are met. The successful candidate will perform tooling changeovers, die cleaning, quality inspections, and process monitoring while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Operation & Production
  • Operate and monitor a minimum of six extrusion lines while maintaining proper machine settings.
  • Bundle, stack, and prepare extruded mouldings for downstream processes.
  • Monitor color, extrusion rates, profile configuration, and production counts.
  • Maintain a steady supply of compound material at assigned machines.
  • Input production and process data into the designated acquisition system.
  • Assist with moving and handling extruded materials as needed.
Quality Assurance
  • Inspect products to ensure compliance with established quality standards.
  • Grade and identify rejects according to quality requirements.
  • Remove burrs, fuzz, and other imperfections from profiles.
  • Ensure profiles are oriented and bundled correctly for shipment and storage.
Equipment Maintenance
  • Perform tooling changeovers and die cleaning.
  • Maintain extrusion equipment in proper operating condition.
  • Identify and report equipment issues to the appropriate personnel.
Safety & Teamwork
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, leads, and supervisors.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
  • One to three years of industrial manufacturing experience and/or training preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Mechanically inclined with strong troubleshooting abilities.
  • Proficient math skills, including the ability to calculate ratios, percentages, fractions, and measurements.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, specifications, and production documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple extrusion lines.
Communication Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, leads, and supervisors.
  • Ability to document production information accurately and clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and use of hands.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 10 pounds and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push a 900-pound buggy approximately 200 feet multiple times per day.
  • Must be able to perform work requiring close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to airborne particles.
  • High-noise environment requiring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must adhere to all safety requirements and wear required PPE.
