Job description

System Administrator Level 2

IT Solutions of South Florida • Hypoluxo, FL, US

Love building reliable networks, solving IT puzzles, and helping businesses keep their environments secure? Excited to grow your skills in a supportive environment while gaining hands-on experience with networking, cloud, cybersecurity, and compliance-focused technologies?

So are we.

We’re IT Solutions of South Florida, and we’re looking for a Level 2 System Administrator who’s ready to expand their experience across networking, cloud, security, and cybersecurity compliance. You’ll work closely with senior engineers, assist with client projects, and provide day-to-day technical support that makes a real impact.

This role also supports clients with increasing cybersecurity and regulatory requirements, including environments aligned with NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, CIS Controls, CIS Benchmarks, and other security best practices. You don’t need to be a compliance auditor, but you should understand how technical controls, secure configurations, documentation, and remediation activities contribute to a compliant and secure environment.

Compensation:

$60,000 - $70,000 yearly

Responsibilities:What You'll Do
  • Provide remote and on-site support: install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware and software, including operating systems, office applications, servers, endpoints, and networking devices.

  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security and troubleshoot system and security-related errors.

  • Provide technical support for end users — leveraging AI-assisted tools to diagnose issues faster and deliver better outcomes.

  • Implement policies, procedures, security standards, and technical best practices to maintain the security and reliability of client environments.

  • Assist with the implementation and remediation of technical cybersecurity controls associated with NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, CIS Controls, CIS Benchmarks, and related security frameworks.

  • Assist with security hardening of Microsoft 365, Windows endpoints, servers, firewalls, switches, and other infrastructure components.

  • Support security technologies including MFA, Conditional Access, Microsoft Defender, endpoint protection, encryption, secure configurations, vulnerability remediation, logging, and access controls.

  • Assist senior engineers with identifying and remediating cybersecurity vulnerabilities, configuration weaknesses, and compliance gaps.

  • Work with vendors and partners to resolve technical and cybersecurity-related issues.

  • Assist with deploying and maintaining switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and segmented networks.

  • Support cloud environments including Microsoft 365, Azure, and AWS with configuration, administration, security, and troubleshooting.

  • Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, network diagrams, configurations, procedures, and evidence supporting cybersecurity and compliance requirements.

  • Collaborate with senior engineers on larger projects including migrations, upgrades, security remediation initiatives, CMMC/NIST-aligned projects, and AI-adjacent rollouts such as Copilot, Claude deployments, and automation workflows.

  • Participate in vulnerability remediation, system hardening, security assessments, and implementation of recommended security controls.

  • Continue developing your technical and cybersecurity skills through training, mentorship, certifications, and staying current with emerging technologies and threats.

Qualifications:Who You Are
  • 3+ years of relevant IT, systems administration, networking, or cybersecurity experience. MSP experience is a plus.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a customer-first mindset.

  • Comfortable working independently while knowing when to escalate or collaborate with senior technical resources.

  • Local to Palm Beach County; this is an in-person role.

  • Curious, adaptable, security-conscious, and calm under pressure.

  • Interested in continuing to develop your knowledge of cybersecurity, cloud technologies, and compliance requirements.

  • Able to understand that security is part of everyday systems administration — not something handled only by the security team.

Certifications & Skills We LoveRequired
  • Strong understanding of desktop and server hardware, operating systems, and software.

  • Working knowledge of switches, routers, VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls.

  • Experience administering and troubleshooting Microsoft 365.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft security technologies including Microsoft Defender, Entra ID, MFA, Conditional Access, Purview, and security-related Microsoft 365 configurations.

  • Familiarity with the Microsoft collaboration stack, including Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, CIS Controls, or CIS Benchmarks.

  • Ability to implement or assist with technical security controls and remediation activities based on findings from vulnerability scans, security assessments, or compliance reviews.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and a customer-first mindset.

  • Ability to troubleshoot client issues in a calm and professional manner.

  • Ability to explain complex technical and cybersecurity concepts in plain language rather than technical jargon.

  • Strong documentation skills.

Preferred
  • CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent technical/security certification.

  • Experience implementing security controls associated with NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, CIS Controls, or CIS Benchmarks.

  • Familiarity with CMMC Level 1 and/or Level 2 technical requirements.

  • Familiarity with security hardening, vulnerability management, secure configuration baselines, and remediation activities.

  • Experience with firewall platforms such as WatchGuard or Sophos.

  • Exposure to VMware and/or Hyper-V.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or Nerdio.

  • Experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Office 365, Intune, Entra ID, or similar endpoint and identity security platforms.

You’ll Get Bonus Points For Any of the Following
  • You’re familiar with N-able, ConnectWise, Halo, Nerdio, or Datto.

  • You have experience supporting clients undergoing CMMC preparation, NIST SP 800-171 assessments, cybersecurity assessments, or compliance remediation projects.

  • You’ve worked with CIS Benchmarks or other system-hardening standards.

  • You’ve earned networking, Microsoft, or cybersecurity certifications such as Network+, Security+, CySA+, AZ-104, MS-102, SC-300, or similar certifications.

  • You have previous MSP or consulting experience.

  • You have experience supporting or rolling out AI productivity tools.

  • You have a degree from a four-year university.
