  • Pay Type: Exempt / Salary paid Twice Per Month
  • Annual Salary Pay: $100,000-$115,000 per year based on experience.
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with flexibility to work additional hours depending on the business needs.
  • Experience with Food Grade preferred.
  • Experience with SQF and/or HACCP preferred.
  • Experience in purchasing ingredients for food manufacturing is preferred.

Summary
The Purchasing Manager ensures business retention and growth through effective purchasing practices to support customer service. This individual maintains an effective purchasing system that supports an efficient maintenance operation, to meet and/or exceed the field goals and objectives for each location and all customers and ensures that company purchasing policies and procedures are effectively developed, implemented and administered.
Essential Functions
  • Vendor Interaction:
    Establishes competitive costing for required products through a negotiation schedule process.
    Establishes and/or review on a continual basis clear, concise and attainable goals and objectives for products and/or vendors.
    Develops purchasing plans.
    Develops and promote vendor sources for product training and for lower level buyer training.
    Motivates and supports RTR's vendor population by recognizing quality performance.
    Interviews and actively searches for new acceptable products and sources.
    Utilizes appropriate and effective purchasing techniques for selection of products and vendors.
    Supports minority vendors
  • Purchasing Systems Management:
    Ensures purchasing programs are effectively implemented and maintained
    Provide purchasing support to all internal and external customers
    Assists in managing running costs and overhead expenses by reducing costs.
    Provides costing information.
    Promotes and retains Ryder quality/RTR Maintenance approved products
    Supports Customer Scheduling System through purchasing systems
    Purchases products that support continuity and compliance of provincial and federal standards and compliance with local, provincial and federal laws
  • Communications:
    Establishes and maintains effective customer and vendor relations and communications
    Provides clear and concise written communications to all customers through departmental publications
