The beautiful Shangri-La Resort, located at the tip of Monkey Island in the center of northeast Oklahoma's Grand Lake O' the Cherokees, is currently taking applications for a Prep Cook. Are you looking for a rewarding job? We're hiring an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join our team! POSITION Prep Cook JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Prep Cook is responsible for assisting in the preparation of meals by chopping vegetables, making salads, and putting together entrees. Duties of this position include food preparation, performing kitchen maintenance tasks, testing the temperature of food as directed and ensuring leftover food is stored properly. REPORTS TO Sous Chef KEY RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs. Date all food containers and rotate as per Crescent standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures. Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull, and line set up. Note any out of stock items or possible shortages. Assist in keeping buffet stocked. Return all food items not used on the next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables. Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage per standards. Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill.Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis. Work shifts may be either PM or AM, as needed with flexibility as a must.Receiving all deliveries that come into property, ensuring that deliveries are accurate to original order, quality of product received is up to company standards, and ensure that weights and quantities are accurate.Proper storage of all delivered items in their respective areas.Maintain storage areas, receiving areas, loading dock, and refrigerators in an orderly and clean fashion.Assist Purchasing Manager with daily inventory.Assist Purchasing manager w/ period end inventories.Completion of daily receiving logs with proper entries and corrections noted.Instruct and direct assistant receiver in their daily duties.Perform all reasonable requests by the management team.Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and training sessions.Perform any other job-related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLSRelated experience is preferred but not required. Must be 18 years of age or older. Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Permit and Able License.
