Job description

Position Summary:

The Distribution Supervisor supports the Distribution Manager in the daily operation of the warehouse and distribution department. This position is responsible for helping ensure efficient warehouse operations, shipment accuracy, on-time customer deliveries, inventory integrity, and employee productivity. A primary focus of the role is overseeing all FedEx, UPS, and daily outbound shipments to ensure customer orders are processed accurately and shipped according to schedule.

The Distribution Supervisor will serve as the primary backup for the Warehouse Operator responsible for FedEx and UPS processing and must be capable of performing all duties associated with parcel shipping operations when needed.

Position responsibilities:
  • Assist the Distribution Manager in directing daily warehouse and distribution activities.
  • Ensure all customer shipments are processed accurately and shipped on time.
  • Monitor and verify all daily FedEx, UPS, LTL, and other outbound shipments.
  • Serve as backup for the Warehouse Operator responsible for FedEx and UPS parcel shipments.
  • Process shipping documentation, labels, bills of lading, and carrier paperwork as required.
  • Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, damaged shipments, and delivery issues.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service, Production, Planning, and Purchasing to ensure shipping priorities are met.
  • Assist with inventory control activities including cycle counts and inventory accuracy initiatives.
  • Support warehouse organization and maintain proper storage of finished goods and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and housekeeping standards.
  • Help train, coach, and support warehouse personnel on shipping procedures and best practices.
  • Monitor workflow and labor utilization to maximize department efficiency.
  • Assist with carrier scheduling and communication with transportation providers.
  • Generate and maintain shipping, inventory, and performance reports as required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, service, and productivity.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Distribution Manager.
Education requirements:

HSD or GED. Associate or bachelorโ€™s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of warehouse, shipping, distribution, or logistics experience.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with FedEx, UPS, LTL carriers, and transportation documentation.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of warehouse and distribution operations.
  • Knowledge of shipping systems, carrier requirements, and freight processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot shipping issues and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with ERP, WMS, or AS/400 systems preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment following proper training and certification requirements.
