Project Overview:
Bechtel is supporting efforts to revitalize chipmaking in the U.S. by designing and building an advanced semiconductor manufacturing facility in Ohio. Our team's ability to design for rapid advances in technology and deploy best-in-class construction innovation will help transform Ohio into the "Silicon Heartland" by creating an entire supply chain to deliver the project, including engineers, construction leadership, and craft professionals.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will perform tasks involved in the formation and administration of purchase orders. You will prepare bidders' lists, qualify bidders, form bid packages, issue bid requests, participate in negotiations, recommend commitments, secure approvals, communicate with suppliers and monitor supplier performance. Your efforts are to ensure potential and current suppliers comply with purchase order requirements and provide the required service and results to meet project needs. This specific role will be on an active project, tasks involved will initially be heavy on the administration aspects.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Prepares bidders' lists and qualifies bidders
  • Communicates with Engineering to assist and/or guide them in the preparation of material requisitions for the procurement of materials and equipment and to achieve the understanding needed to process these requisitions
  • Forms bid packages and issues bid requests, coordinates bidders' questions, and receives bids
  • Prepares Commercial Bid Summary and recommendations to award
  • Communicates with suppliers and personnel within Bechtel to establish clear definition of requirements and to assure performance to purchase order requirements
  • Identifies, defines, and secures agreement regarding purchase order changes
  • Initiates and processes purchase order revisions that establish scope and effects on cost and schedule of agreed upon changes
  • Assist Project Controls with monitoring and tracking spend

Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficiency and experience in the formation and administration of purchase orders through the several steps of bidder prequalification, compilation of bid requests, receipt of bids, bid evaluation, award, monitoring the performance of suppliers and buyers, back charge procedures, resolution of claims and disputes, and other such related steps.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of procurement operations related to permanent plant purchases.
  • Basic knowledge of division of responsiblities between Engineering, Procurement and Construction.
  • Experience in global procurement.
