The Purchasing Supervisor (Industrial Solutions) will be responsible for overseeing the procurement of raw materials, components, and production supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations on the shop floor. This role supervises purchasing staff, manages supplier relationships, and negotiates pricing and contracts with a focus on cost control, quality, and on-time delivery. Collaboration with production planning, engineering, and inventory teams to align material availability to support production demands.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, develop and supervise a team of buyers and purchasing staff
  • Train, assign, and delegate responsibilities/projects
  • Follow up on performance progress, audit work, and provide feedback to each team member
  • Manage sourcing of materials and components to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets
  • Track and control bill of materials (BOM) costs, especially during product launches
  • Ensure on-time delivery and supplier capacity to support production schedules
  • Coordinate program reviews, monitor progress, and manage risks
  • Develop bid lists and support sourcing strategies aligned with company goals and commodity strategies
  • Identify cost-savings and improvement opportunities and address budget gaps
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, etc.)
  • Generate reports, action plans, and updates for leadership
  • Oversee supplier performance, tooling, and launch readiness activities
  • Support smooth transition from product launch to full production
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, audits, and company procedures
  • Promote safe work practices and resolve safety issues
  • Maintain organized work areas and proper material handling
  • Step in to support purchasing activities as needed and perform other assigned duties

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of purchasing or program or project management experience working in an industrial production purchasing environment with preference for globally supported environment
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Bachelor 's Degree in Supply Chain Management/Engineering/Business Management or equivalent specialty required
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) a plus
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Project Management or Program Management skills
  • Team Leader, Critical Analysis, and excellent Negotiation Skills
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, eRFQ, Web based tracking software, and ERP systems knowledge a plus.
  • Must be self-motivated/directed. Required to determine most, if not all, of own work assignments; both tactical and strategic. Requires minimal management input to achieve objectives.
  • Attendance on the job is essential.
  • Must be able to follow instructions, safety rules and regulations.
