The Opportunity with McKinstry:

We are currently seeking a Buyerto join McKinstry as a member of our Purchasing team. If you enjoy collaborating with a team and interacting with customers, have strong attention to detail, and aspire to work in the construction supply chain field, this may be a perfect position for you.

Purchasing

As a Buyer, you will be tasked with processing purchase requests received via face-to-face, through email, or our purchasing hotline. You may be asked to prequalify and develop suppliers, prepare bid lists, qualify bidders, and conduct bid evaluations. Preparing, issuing, and administering purchase orders will be a weekly occurrence in this role while ensuring compliance with contractual terms. You will then process and verify invoices to confirm supplier performance and compliance.

Communication

Strong communication skills will take you far in this position. You will work closely with field and project teams in a customer-focused manner. You will be tasked with escalating equipment requisitions to Purchasing Agents or the Purchasing Manager promptly. As a buyer, you will own transactions from creation through completion while ensuring a thorough follow-up.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or supply Chain Management preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Basic understanding of purchasing principles preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills including a highdegree of attention to detail required.
  • Ability to quickly learn new computer software applications.
  • Experience in the construction environment is preferred.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $41.00per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
