This Opportunity

We are seeking an Inventory Controls Specialist to support operations by maintaining accurate inventory and asset controls and ensuring materials and equipment are available, functional, and properly tracked. This role plays a critical part in protecting Bay West’s assets and supporting field projects through effective stocking, staging, inspection, and documentation of materials and equipment. You will also support continuous improvement of shop and warehouse processes, maintain accurate records, and escalate equipment issues as needed to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Your Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory levels for parts, materials, and high‑use consumables (e.g., fasteners, fluids, PPE, shop supplies).
  • Perform cycle counts and inventory audits; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Forecast usage trends and manage reorder points, min/max levels, and vendor lead times.
  • Coordinate purchasing and replenishment to ensure timely, cost‑effective sourcing.
  • Organize and label storage locations in alignment with 5S and Lean principles.

Asset & Equipment Control

  • Track, issue, and monitor all company assets, including tools, vehicles, and specialized equipment.
  • Maintain asset records including tagging, location, condition, and utilization.
  • Inspect equipment before and after project use; document condition, usage, and issues.
  • Support preventative maintenance efforts and provide input on repair vs. replacement decisions.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and compliance with manufacturer and safety requirements.

Warehouse Operations & Logistics

  • Stage, issue, and prepare equipment and consumables for field projects.
  • Receive returned materials; inspect, clean, restock, and record usage accurately.
  • Receive incoming shipments, verify against purchase orders, and enter inventory into systems.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment.
  • Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners, and computer systems.

Collaboration & Support

  • Partner with Project Managers, field crews, and internal departments to meet project needs.
  • Provide timely and accurate material support to ensure successful project execution.
  • Occasionally assist with deliveries to project sites or vendor locations.

Compliance & Safety

  • Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and quality procedures.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and support audit and documentation requirements.

Administrative & General Duties

  • Participate in required meetings and training.
  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2–3 years of experience in inventory control, material handling, or warehouse/manufacturing operations
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening
  • Comfortable working in an industrial environment with exposure to oils, solvents, and shop equipment
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and understanding of tools or equipment
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in the environmental services industry
  • Certified Inventory Control Specialist (CICS or similar)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, reach, and climb as required in a warehouse environment
  • Ability to operate warehouse and material‑handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Ability to work in an industrial setting with exposure to oils, solvents, noise, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
