Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join our Trumbull Industries team. The ideal candidate will assist in procurement activities, maintain inventory levels and support the purchasing department in various administrative tasks.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and input purchase orders from vendors.
  • Assist in sourcing and purchasing goods and services.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of products and services.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory.
  • Check order information for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review inventory levels to released orders.
  • Organize priorities according to ship date.
  • Run daily reports to determine inventory that needs purchased.
  • Build truckloads and coordinate with salespeople to hit required dates.
  • Submit orders for truckloads, replacement and quick ship items.
  • Coordinate deliveries between trucking companies and receiving department.
  • Update salespeople with current promotions, new & discontinued items, and current cost multipliers.
  • Update the system with new, discontinued & obsolete items.
  • Inspect inventory for missing and damaged product.
  • Coordinate with returns dept. for returning product on vendor claims.
  • Assist buyers as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills required.
  • Proficient In use of MS Office Products. Working knowledge of MS Excel and/or other analytical spreadsheet tools, inventory management, pricing and review and freight is preferred.
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles and practices beneficial.
  • Understanding of logistics and supply chain management preferred.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Experience Minimum one (1) prior experience in Purchasing or Procurement or related field preferred.

Education High School diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor degree in business or related field preferred.
