Job description

The General Purchaser is responsible for procuring all repair and maintenance parts and products used by STEP Energy Services. This role is essential in maintaining the standards outlined in STEP's processes and procedures to ensure an exceptional client and employee experience is delivered. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Source and purchase all necessary parts and or services for service orders and inventory replenishment as required
  • Prepare purchase orders, issue slips, transfer forms, inventory count forms and other company related forms as required
  • Work with the finance team to ensure invoices are completed properly and on-time
  • Assist in the proper vendor selection and vendor maintenance programs on an on-going basis
  • Complete monthly and quarterly reporting as outlined by the supply chain manager or raw materials supervisor
  • Participate and review inventory counts on a quarterly basis and maintain company standards for loss and gain
  • Perform daily inventory tasks such as pre-counts, issues, transfers, and replenishment
  • Oversee the supply chain data system, data entry and management
  • Work with the iron coordinator and parts department to provide purchasing assistance as needed
  • All other duties as required

Related experience and competencies:
  • Minimum three years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong computer skills with experience in the Microsoft Office 365 suite of programs
  • Related education focusing on negotiation and procurement training is an asset
  • Previous experience with sourcing and purchasing is an asset
  • Strong ability to organize daily tasks and work within defined timelines to meet operational requirements
  • Able to perform confidently, accurately, professionally, and thoroughly in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment while supporting management decisions
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills
  • Consistently provides exceptional service to both internal and external clients
