We are hiring for their Infrastructure Platforms team, who work closely with their internal customers and key stakeholders, to prioritize, plan, and execute a number of strategic projects as well as providing operations support for the global infrastructure.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Linux Administrator to provide UNIX support for our client's global infrastructure. Working alongside fellow team members and others within the IT technical teams to deliver against key responsibilities and ensure the continued availability and development of the UNIX topology.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will need to develop a good understanding of the client's IT infrastructure to:
  • Provide day-to-day support of client's UNIX environment.
  • Work with the engineering divisions to streamline and enhance the service offering.
  • Ensure that appropriate system monitoring is implemented and supported globally.
  • Gather global utilization metrics and report on current capacity and trends.
  • Contribute to the IT business continuity process and ensure that regular recovery tests are performed.
  • Provide communications to user base for both reactive and proactive system outages.
  • Support the adoption and rollout of key ITIL best practices.

Job Requirements/ Experience:
  • Relevant technical accreditation or successful completion of vendor certified training (Sun/Oracle, HP, and VMware).
  • ITIL certification to at least foundation level.
  • Strong skills in all aspects of RedHat, Ubuntu, Centos and Solaris including configuration, patching and in depth troubleshooting.
  • Previous experience supporting and managing server hardware from one or more of the following vendors; HP, IBM, Dell.
  • Good skills in Shell, bash or PERL.
  • Experience and knowledge of Puppet or CFEngine.
  • Experience and knowledge of Sendmail.
  • Good knowledge of the following Application Servers - DNS, DHCP, GDM.
  • VMware knowledge/hands-on experience including, server consolidation, command line usage, and backup and restore technologies.
  • Must have familiarity with windows server operating systems.
  • Experience of technology roadmap development.
  • Excellent customer service attitude, written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively with people at all levels.
  • Ability to lead discussions on complex technical issues.

Qualifications
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Good knowledge of MySQL Server 5-5.x administration, Monitoring, High Availability and Clustering.
  • Administration and best practice and architectural knowledge of Iplanet Directory server 5 and Oracle directory server 11G.
  • Good working knowledge of TFTP and PXE along with kick-start. Jumpstart knowledge is a nice to have.
  • Appliance based Load balancing management experience.
  • Previous experience supporting compute / HPC environment.
  • Working knowledge of IBM Platform LSF.
  • Experience in supporting / troubleshooting NFS issues.
  • Previous exposure to the Jira project-tracking tool.
