Job Title: Reliability Superintendent

The location in Hawesville, KY, is seeking talent to fill the position of Reliability Superintendent. This job is full-time permanent.

The Reliability Superintendent's responsibility is to maintain and improve the reliability of our manufacturing operations by eliminating production failures from our process and increasing the life of our assets.  They will also partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, purchasing and mill leaders to realize improved reliability in all process areas.  The ideal candidate has built effective, trusting business relationships and successfully executed on action plans through servant leadership partnerships in a continuous manufacturing environment. 

Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Lead a group of Reliability Engineers to Develop, implement, and own strategies that will improve current maintenance practices and processes driving better equipment uptime, lower repair costs, and lower material inventory levels/costs.
  • Identify & implement improvements in process & equipment reliability across the Mill by working closely with operations & maintenance personnel.
  • Provide maintenance engineering, technical assistance & reliability leadership/support.
  • Serve as a key interface for Reliability improvement by reviewing equipment history & performing failure cause analysis.
  • Review existing preventive maintenance processes for value to the maintenance effort & propose changes as necessary to improve the reliability of the assets.
  • Guide efforts to maintain and/or improve the reliability of plant equipment and processes. 
  • Define, develop, administer, and refine the equipment asset care, condition monitoring and preventative maintenance programs. 
  • Execute an outage strategy to perform annual maintenance and increase equipment reliability.
  • Review and follow-up on equipment failures, utilizing root cause failure analysis, and offering solutions and own corrective action to prevent future failures.
  • Integrate reliability-centered maintenance, risk-based inspections, equipment condition monitoring, root cause analysis, critical spare parts management and other reliability best practices in normal day-to-day activities.
  • Provide technical expertise for the analysis, development and evaluation of new maintenance technologies and equipment, and fully utilize all existing technology.
  • Serve as a resource for operators and maintenance to learn and understand more about maintenance processes and their related systems and strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within processes, equipment/controls, environmental/safety areas, employee work environment, costs, quality, etc.
  • Develop optimization/improvement strategies based on systems analysis and performance metrics.
  • Track cost savings associated with Continuous Improvement efforts.

 Required Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • BS Degree or Technologist in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years working in an industrial environment
  • The ability to influence operations to ensure proper operation of equipment, basic care, and early identification of problems.
  • Experience in utilizing reliability systems, methods and processes
  • Knowledgeable using a Computerized Maintenance Management System or ability to learn
  • Willingness to work extended hours to support plant outages
  • Strong knowledge of work process flow.
  • Proven track record of implementing successful reliability practices in a mill environment.
