Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pulmonary Step Down/PCU position requiring ventilator and tracheostomy experience at a Level I Trauma Center.

Details
  • Work in the Pulmonary Step Down/PCU unit caring for mechanically ventilated patients
  • Average patient ratio of 1:3
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Epic EMR used for charting
Requirements
  • Active CT or Compact RN license required prior to start date
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years accepted with Level I Trauma Center or large hospital experience)
  • ICU, ventilator, telemetry, and tracheostomy experience required
  • Prior experience at a Level I Trauma Center or large academic hospital required
  • Skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care
  • Experience with respiratory care including ventilator management, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
  • Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience managing cardiac drips (no titration required)
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
  • One professional reference required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide direct care to mechanically ventilated patients in a Pulmonary Step Down setting
  • Utilize Rapid Response and Code teams as needed for emergency response
  • Work within a large, academic Level I Trauma Center environment with over 1,500 staffed beds
  • Travelers must be willing to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions available only for religious or medical reasons
  • RTO requests greater than 7 days require additional approval
  • Local candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted
  • Previous perm staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
