Assistant Professor

Position Summary:

Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in the Division of Pulmonary Biology. This role is designed for a dynamic individual who has recently completed their postdoctoral training and is ready to embark on a transformative research career in the field of pulmonary biology, integrating computational genomics and AI-driven approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop and lead independent research in pulmonary biology, with a focus on computational genomics.

· Utilize AI techniques for genomic imaging and analysis, contributing to the division's innovative approach to lung biology.

· Engage in collaborative projects within the division and across the institution, promoting a multidisciplinary approach to research.

· Contribute to the training and mentorship of students and postdoctoral fellows.

· Publish findings in high-impact journals and present work at international conferences.

About the Division:

The Division of Pulmonary Biology at Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation aims to be at the forefront of lung biology research, particularly in the era of computational genomics. We are dedicated to understanding the intricate biology of the lung and applying cutting-edge AI technologies to genomic data, driving innovation in pediatric pulmonary research.


PURPOSE OF POSITION: To conduct research both independently and collaboratively. To participate in teaching; training; scholarly activities and/or service/administration. Responsible for initiating; soliciting; and coordinating well-designed research projects that have potential for external funding. May participate in activities to plan; direct; implement; coordinate and improve services and technical operations within the research activities of the organization. To work with Scientific Directors and colleagues to maximize the function of the organization's scientists and clinician-scientists. To provide; communicate and implement strategic; operational and programmatic plans and policies to achieve the mission; vision and values of Cincinnati Children's.


REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

·Research, Teaching and/or Training:

  • Conduct research both independently and collaboratively that is often dependent upon or associated with other ongoing research projects or is service related.
  • Ensure that all research functions operate at the highest level of quality, while maintaining fiscal soundness.
  • Participate in collaborative research projects through interactions with researchers as well as individuals from other divisions/departments.
  • Participate in mentoring graduate students, post-doctoral and research fellows, residents, and students to be involved in functions related to the research mission.
  • Contributes to research and teaching including serving as a teacher, role model and mentor internally; participate in the development and direction of research and/or educational program at the division, department or system level.
  • Complete evaluations for students, residents and peers.
  • Maintain currency in field through continuing education, literature and seminars.
  • Enhance professional knowledge by attending seminars and professional meetings.
  • Implement knowledge into research.
·Service and/or Administration:

  • Lead the integration of existing programs and development & growth of a major initiative of the assigned department and/or program.
  • Lead program development for service and/or administration as evidenced by contributions including leadership role in the development of innovative programs for research and/or patient care of educational purposes; significant leadership role in the direction of an academic division; leadership role in the medical center or university; leadership role in regional & national professional societies, program committees and governing boards.
  • Lead the development of departmental policies, procedures & standards.
  • Serve as a role model of effective interpersonal & intrapersonal relationships & encourage team concepts.
  • Develop & guide the implementation of long- & short-term goals & objectives & ensure that they are aligned to the Division & medical center strategic objectives. Serve in a leadership role in the Institute or medical center.
  • Participate as a member of the leadership team in developing consensus in the various programs, approaches, issues & new initiatives within the Department.
·Scholarly Activity:

  • Demonstrates on-going commitment to and participates in scholarly activities at an advanced level as evidenced by publication of original research investigation, educational research, clinical observations, reviews, chapters or books; leadership role in research trials, and/or research investigations; membership on editorial boards or editorship of textbooks or journals.
  • Applies advanced training in research methods to design and conduct clinical research on various areas of clinical specialty.
  • Develop research programs in area of clinical specialty.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in securing grant funding of research initiatives and programs mentors and assist other faculty in grantsmanship. Develop and growth of new externally funded research initiatives.
  • Develop a program that receives extramural support in the form of major grants from the National Institutes of Health or other sources.
Qualifications:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE


Required:
  • ·PhD degree in a related scientific or research field
  • ·Three years related experience in research field research and/or Lab experience assisting with the preparation of data for presentation at scientific meetings
    ·Associate Professor appointment or eligibility required

    ·Professionalism
    Organizational ability to work effectively within a highly matrixed and complex medical center. Possesses expert knowledge and experience of medical specialty.
