Our client, a Internet Content & Information company, is looking for a Music Publishing Operations Specialist II for their New York, NY/Hybrid location.
Responsibilities:

  • Drive Strategic Innovation: Develop and implement scalable automation solutions and process optimizations that address current operational needs while building future-ready systems and enhanced operational capabilities.
  • Embrace Continuous Innovation: Learn rapidly from experience, iterate on solutions, and treat every challenge as an opportunity for operational advancement.
  • Ownership Research & Verification: Research and verify publishing ownership data using internal and external third-party tools to identify gaps and improve the accuracy and completeness of rights holder and ownership information.
  • Support the end-to-end management of music publishing operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with partner requirements.
  • Assist with data ingestion, validation, and quality assurance across publishing data systems.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to resolve data discrepancies and operational issues.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on key operational metrics to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain and improve documentation of processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements:
  • A proactive self-starter with experience in ownership research and verification, data ingestion and quality assurance, process automation and optimization, cross-functional collaboration, and partner operations support.
  • 2+ years of experience in operations, data management, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet tools (e.g., Google Sheets, Excel) and comfort working with large datasets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Experience in a similar role within the music publishing industry.
  • Familiarity with music publishing data (e.g., royalty data, Client data, ownership/share information).
  • Experience researching publishing ownership information using third-party tools.
  • Experience with music publishing data exchange processes and formats (e.g., CWR, DDEX).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience with process automation tools or scripting (e.g., Python, SQL).
  • Knowledge of music rights management tools.
FTE Support:
  • Provide operational support to full-time team members across daily workflows, including task coordination, documentation, and process follow-through.
  • AI-Driven Process Automation: Collaborate with the team to leverage AI tools in identifying, testing, and implementing automation opportunities for existing operational processes.
  • External Partner Triage: Serve as the first point of contact for inbound queries from external partners, triaging and routing requests to the appropriate teams with accurate context.
  • Monthly Report Quality Control: Conduct quality checks on monthly reports to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and adherence to team standards before distribution.
  • Data Quality Initiative Support: Execute workflows related to ongoing data quality initiatives, including identifying discrepancies, flagging issues, and tracking resolution progress.
  • Music Publishing Data Research: Research and verify music publishing data using third-party tools and databases to support team deliverables and partner-facing outputs.
  • Purpose/Size of this team & where does this position fit within the team:
  • Team Size: 11 (6 FTE + 5 CWs)
  • The Music Publishing Operations team delivers scalable solutions for music partners across Client of apps.
  • As a focused, agile group, we leverage industry expertise and strong operational relationships to develop strategies that drive progress for both Client and the global music community, addressing the evolving needs of the dynamic music publishing landscape.
Position Fit:
  • This position sits within the Publishing Operations (Pub Ops) team, part of Music Content Operations under Premier Partner Operations.
  • The role reports into the Publishing Operations Manager and works alongside FTEs to provide day-to-day operational support.
Specifically, this CW will:
  • Augment existing FTE capacity by handling high-volume, repeatable workflows such as external partner triage, monthly report QC, and data quality tasks - freeing FTEs to focus on higher-complexity and strategic work.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives including the Data Quality Initiative and AI-driven process automation efforts that require additional hands-on execution capacity.
  • Serve as a key operational contributor in the team's efforts to maintain data accuracy and partner responsiveness across music publishing workflows.
  • This is not a net-new function it reinforces and scales existing team operations during a period of increased volume and new initiative ramp-up.
  • Performance will be assessed through a combination of quantitative metrics and qualitative feedback across the role's core workstreams:
Timeliness & Throughput:
  • External partner inbound queries triaged and routed within agreed SLA timeframes
  • Monthly report QC completed on schedule and ahead of distribution deadlines
  • Demonstrates initiative, ability to self-start
  • Volume of records reviewed, flagged, or corrected as part of Data Quality Initiative workflows
  • Consistency in following documented processes and escalation paths
Process Automation Support:
  • Active participation in AI tool testing and automation initiatives, measured by number of processes evaluated or improved
  • Quality of documentation produced for new or updated workflows
Collaboration & Reliability:
  • Feedback from FTEs on responsiveness, reliability, and quality of support provided
  • Adherence to team norms, communication standards, and attendance expectations
