Job description

HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a hands-on, strategic, and solution-oriented Site IT Manager to support the technology operations within our new 1.6 million square foot Distribution Center in Brownsburg, IN. This role is critical to ensure that the local hardware, software, and network infrastructure supporting our warehouse runs smoothly 24/5. You will collaborate closely with vendors and several tech support teams, providing them with onsite support, coordination, and technical guidance to help solve local issues efficiently.

  • Provide onsite IT support within the distribution center, with a primary focus on local IT infrastructure.
  • Ensure high uptime and smooth operation for mission-critical systems, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP interfaces, and automated conveyor/sorting controls.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain essential hardware on the warehouse floor, including RF scanners, barcode printers, ruggedized tablets, workstations, wireless access points, badge access systems and shipping stations.
  • Support and coordinate with NewsCorp’s remote technical support teams for issue escalation and resolution, rather than directly supervising local IT staff.
  • Serve as the primary local point of contact for external vendors and service providers regarding telecommunications, cabling, hardware, and equipment maintenance.
  • Support the local rollout of corporate IT projects and system upgrades, ensuring alignment with warehouse operations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of IT operations experience, preferably including distribution center, logistics, manufacturing, or supply chain environments
  • Strong knowledge of end-user computing devices and warehouse IT equipment; familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP systems, and RF technology
  • Solid understanding of LAN/WAN concepts, Wi-Fi infrastructure in large open spaces, and basic switch configuration
  • Excellent analytical skills with a proactive, hands-on approach to troubleshooting and issue resolution
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment and support technical teams without direct people management responsibilities.
  • Ability to provide clear and effective communication when explaining technical concepts to non-technical warehouse staff and managers.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of IT and customer personnel
  • Possess a positive, professional, team-oriented attitude
  • Exhibit a strong ability to work under pressure with changing priorities
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills
  • Work off-hours in support of projects as required
  • Experience coordinating with remote or centralized IT teams is preferred
  • Travel to other HarperCollins locations may be required
