Job Description Paralegal - Public Sector Aurora, CO Full-Time State Government Monday - Friday Are you passionate about justice and ensuring everyone has access to strong legal representation, regardless of income? Join one of the nation's most respected public defense teams. A dynamic and mission-driven state agency is seeking a Paralegal to support indigent criminal defense efforts in the Aurora area. This is your chance to be part of a collaborative, purpose-filled legal environment focused on defending rights, liberties, and dignity. What You'll Be Doing:

  • Manage and organize large volumes of discovery and digital evidence
  • Summarize interviews, videos, and key case details for the defense team
  • Review charges, pleadings, and legal issues in collaboration with attorneys
  • Draft and edit standard motions, briefs, and legal memos
  • Support court proceedings with document preparation, exhibit tracking, and A/V presentations
  • Maintain clear communication with clients and their families
  • Coordinate appellate materials and ensure deadlines are met
  • Track case status and ensure all procedural timelines are followed

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Paralegal certificate (ABA-approved or accredited program), OR
  • One year of experience in legal support, including research, drafting, or file organization
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and internet tools
  • Ability to work with compassion and professionalism in high-stakes situations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies or related field
