Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY: 

Responsible for foundation, community relations and marketing activities of Merrick Medical Center (MMC), Merrick Medical Center Foundation (MMCF) and Merrick Medical Center Auxiliary (MMCA). Drives excellence in local public relations and communication efforts in alignment with Bryan Health overall strategy. Provides key communication direction with the community, donors, employees and public across both traditional and digital platforms, to advance the organization’s vision, mission and beliefs. These responsibilities are accomplished through collaboration with the leadership of MMC, the Advancement Department of Bryan Health, and the Board of Directors of MMCF.  The overreaching job functions include but are not limited to event coordination, marketing, community and public relations, donor and board relations and fundraising. 

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 

  1. *Oversees department goals and objectives. 

  1. Oversees the departmental budgetary procedure to ensure proper operational and capital planning; appropriate and efficient use of resources; and consistent compliance to budgetary and fiscal controls. 

  1. *Performs service excellence must-haves to achieve an excellent patient/customer experience. 

  1. Prepares reports, analyzes and provides recommendations in a timely and accurate manner, to MMC senior leadership and MMCF leadership.  

  1. *Acts as MMC’s ambassador, along with the senior leadership team, MMC Board, MMCF Board, and providers to cultivate community involvement and relationships within the Merrick County communities. 

  1. * Acts as the Executive Director of MMFC and partners with the Finance department to maintain accurate banking, record keeping, gift processing and acknowledgements, lifetime giving, donor recognition and database, budgeting and tax documents. 

  1. Coordinates with the Finance department to provide monthly financial statements to the MMCF Board, annual reports to the audit firm, and ensures tax reporting including 990 and 1099s.   

  1. *Works with the MMCF and the Finance department to manage investment funds. 

  1. *Designs, plans and executes all fundraisings initiatives including, but not limited to annual community and employee fundraising.  Coordinates community outreach events, year-end giving, estate planning and other fundraising related programs. 

  1. Recruits, trains and maintains positive volunteer relationships related to fundraising initiatives and activities.  

  1. *Maintains and ensures appropriate internal controls related to fundraising records, the electronic donor database, and finances as reported to the MMCF Board. 

  1. Provides the copywriting and project management and coordinates all aspects of the internal and external marketing. 

  1. *Leads, represents, and maintains positive relations with MMCF Auxiliary and Auxiliary Thrift Shop. 

  1. *Develops, plans and executes promotions, communication, and long/short-term brand development strategies in collaboration with Bryan Health Advancement. 

  1. *Acts as a resource to promote new physicians, service lines, events, activities and special projects. 

  1. Keeps informed of current processes, developments, and innovation.  Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or equivalent preferred. Three (3) years’ experience in organizational communications and/or marketing preferred. One (1) year experience working with non-profit, philanthropic groups or equivalent preferred. Fundraising experience is preferred, and a history of consulting effectively with executives, senior professionals and community leaders required. Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Photoshop strongly preferred.
