Job Description

College Intern - Digital Marketing

Join OCTA as a College Intern and gain hands-on experience supporting digital marketing and communications programs that connect customers with OCTA's transportation services. This opportunity will help meet the growing demand for digital marketing support on high-priority campaigns and initiatives, while expanding OCTA's digital reach and ensuring the timely execution of key marketing efforts.

Under direct supervision, you will support digital marketing campaigns and customer communications, including major initiatives such as the rider validation system rollout. OCTA's College Intern Program is a year-round paid student/intern program. You will gain real-world work experience on meaningful projects under the guidance of transportation and marketing professionals. You will have opportunities to strengthen your problem-solving, communication, analytical, and decision-making skills while working with a mentor and building your professional network.

The pay range is $20.00 - $23.00 per hour, depending on education level. This position is not eligible for employee benefits. The work schedule will consist of approximately 20 hours per week, not to exceed 1,000 hours within a continuous 12-month period.

This posting will remain open until a candidate is selected.

What You'll Do

  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of high-priority digital marketing campaigns and initiatives.
  • Assist with marketing and customer communications for key projects, including the rider validation system rollout.
  • Help expand OCTA's digital reach by developing and maintaining engaging content across digital channels.
  • Assist with website, social media, email, and other digital communications that promote OCTA programs and services.
  • Coordinate campaign timelines, deliverables, reviews, and approvals to help ensure marketing initiatives are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Contribute ideas for digital content and assist with creative production for customer-facing campaigns.
  • Research and analyze digital campaign performance, audience engagement, and marketing trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with organizing campaign assets and maintaining digital marketing materials and resources.
  • Provide support for social media, digital promotions, and other priority marketing efforts as needed.
  • Collaborate with Marketing staff and cross-functional teams to support coordinated and effective customer communications.

What We're Looking For

  • Currently enrolled full-time college student (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) at an accredited two- or four-year college or university.
  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Strong interest in digital marketing, content development, social media, and customer communications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, website content, email marketing, or other digital marketing channels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Canva or similar creative tools preferred.
  • Ability to research and analyze campaign performance and contribute ideas for improving digital engagement.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Creative, collaborative, and proactive approach with a willingness to take initiative and support fast-moving campaigns.

Why You'll Love It Here

  • Gain hands-on experience working on high-visibility digital marketing campaigns.
  • Contribute to major customer initiatives, including the rollout of new technology that impacts OCTA riders.
  • Help expand OCTA's digital presence and improve how the agency connects with customers.
  • Develop practical skills in campaign execution, digital content, social media, marketing analytics, and project coordination.
  • Work alongside experienced marketing and communications professionals in a dynamic environment.
  • Build your professional network through mentorship and cross-functional collaboration while contributing to meaningful transportation initiatives.
