About this Job The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana. Join a dedicated public health team committed to improving community health while utilizing your expertise as a Registered Dietitian.

Minimum Qualifications Possession of a permanent Louisiana Dietitian/Nutritionist license plus two years of licensed experience in public health nutrition or dietetics in a clinical setting. Job Specification The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Conduct nutritional assessments, determine nutrition risk, and provide individualized nutrition counseling and food package prescriptions for WIC participants.

Deliver high-risk nutrition counseling, case management, and referrals to community resources to support participant health and wellness. Perform anthropometric measurements, laboratory testing, and maintain accurate clinical documentation in accordance with WIC policies and procedures. Manage exempt formula requests, maintain formula inventory, and monitor projected inventory needs to ensure timely participant services.

Serve as a subject matter expert on nutrition and breastfeeding by providing guidance to participants, staff, and community partners. Lead clinic quality improvement initiatives, management evaluations, staff training, and compliance activities to ensure adherence to federal and state WIC regulations. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, train and mentor staff and dietetic interns, and support community outreach to promote WIC services and breastfeeding awareness.
