Job description

Position Overview

CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking a Dentist to provide comprehensive dental services at a federal metropolitan detention center in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. You will deliver preventive, restorative, and emergency dental care to an incarcerated population, managing conditions ranging from routine prophylaxis to surgical extractions and prosthetic dentistry within Bureau of Prisons dental care standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive dental examinations, develop treatment plans, and provide preventive and restorative dental care
  • Conduct routine and surgical extractions, endodontic procedures, and periodontal treatment
  • Fabricate and fit prosthetic appliances including dentures and partials
  • Manage dental emergencies including acute infections, trauma, and pain management
  • Maintain dental radiology equipment and interpret panoramic and periapical imaging
  • Supervise dental hygienists and dental assistants
  • Document all procedures in the BOP electronic health record system
  • Participate in infection control, quality assurance, and ACA/NCCHC accreditation activities
Required Qualifications
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)
  • Active, unrestricted dental license in Puerto Rico or any U.S. state
  • Active DEA registration
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical dental experience
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Ability to pass federal background investigation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency
  • Correctional or public health dental experience
  • Oral surgery or endodontic advanced training
