Position Summary
The Public Safety Officer reports to the Security Manager. In this role, you will assist the Security Manager. This position operates under the direct supervision and mentorship of the Security Manager.
This role will pay an hourly rate of $15.00
For Part-Time roles: Benefits: 401(k) savings plan and 401(k) matching.
This position will remain open until October 23, 2026.
Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance for all activities involved in facility and event security.
  • Perform crowd management and control techniques; assist with police and fire rescue.
  • Remain calm in emergency response situations that could be life-threatening.
  • Understand the organization and operation of the convention center and of outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Assist in general duties of public safety, theft deterrence, and loss prevention.
  • Building, parking lot, and safety inspections as assigned by the manager.
  • Monitor fire safety equipment, surveillance equipment, and card access equipment.
  • Work security checkpoints and other posts plus traffic assistance.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by manager

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of increasingly responsible experience in law enforcement or security services.
  • Relevant experience working in a first-class public assembly or convention center environment is preferred.
  • Major coursework in law enforcement, public/business administration, or a related field.
  • Possess, or have the ability to obtain, an appropriate Florida security license. Security D license is a plus.
  • Possess an unrestricted Florida driver's license.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate.
  • Possess demonstrable experience with the characteristics, services, and activities of public facility security and safety programs.
  • Verifiable similar experience in a large, service-oriented environment.
  • Working knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office and internet use.
  • Ability to work beyond normal business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to reach, grasp, walk, bend, stoop, and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Ability to work indoors & outdoors as needed, under varying climates in the facility locale.
