Job Title

Performs various journalistic and public relations duties (including preparing, writing, and assisting in the dissemination of public information, publications, television programs, website content and social media) within the Administration Department. This is a permanent Part-time position and requires a flexible schedule which includes weekends, evenings/nights, and early mornings.

Minimum Requirements (Must meet by the closing date of the posting unless otherwise stated)
  • Must be currently enrolled in a college or university with a major in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or other related field.
  • Must submit official transcripts prior to closing date of posting.
  • Intermediate in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign or similar video/picture editing software.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Intermediate in digital camera photography.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, writing skills and graphic layout and design ability.
Essential Functions
  • Assists in creating, editing and updating publications, fliers, brochures, and website content.
  • Conducts research, monitors media coverage and compiles reports on social media related to government initiatives and programs.
  • Assists with planning and execution of social media campaigns and public service announcements.
  • Participates in creating content for social media.
  • Brainstorm new content ideas and initiatives with the team.
  • Responsible for gathering, writing, and editing material to be released to broadcasting media outlets, magazines, and the general public.
  • Attends special events to assist with documenting and capturing photos, and at times post-edit videos and pictures to share on social media.
  • Maintains and updates contact lists for media and community stakeholders.
  • Support the communications team in daily administrative tasks.
  • Strong desire to learn.
