Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology

August 28, 2026

The Department of Social Sciences at Morningside University seeks a faculty member for the Psychological Sciences program as a tenure-track Assistant Professor. The position emphasizes developing student knowledge, understanding, and skills related to counseling psychology and other social service professions, at the undergraduate level. This position is a nine-month appointment beginning August 16, 2027.

The best qualified candidates will have a terminal degree in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, social work, or a closely related discipline. The teaching load is 24 credits per year, including a May Term every three years. Candidates must be able to teach courses in the Counseling Psychology major such as Psychopathology, Group Counseling, and Individual Counseling , and may have the opportunity to develop new courses in their specialty area. Candidates may also be asked to teach courses for the general psychology major and/or the general education curriculum as needed. Ideal candidates will have an active scholarly agenda that could include collaborating with students.

Morningside is a private university located in Sioux City, Iowa, that serves over 2,000 students from almost all 50 states and more than 30 countries.
