OVERVIEW:
Lincoln University (LU), a historically Black, regional, comprehensive, liberal arts university, is one of the 3 state-related institutions within the Pennsylvania Higher Education System. The university enrolls over 2,000 students, employs more than 100 full-time faculty members, and offers more than 30 undergraduate programs and selected graduate programs.
JOB SUMMARY:
Lincoln University invites applications for a full-time, Visiting Faculty (open rank), in Psychology Science. The successful candidate will be a dynamic teacher of undergraduate students as well as a scholar with a dedicated research and publication agenda. The ideal candidate will show evidence of thoughtful intellectual engagement in Psychology or a related field. Candidates will be expected to teach (in-person) a minimum of 12 credit hours each academic year. The successful candidates must possess an active research agenda and a Ph.D. degree.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidates will:
- Offer dynamic, engaging, and student-centered pedagogy utilizing up-to-date expertise in Psychology and best pedagogical practices in those areas.
- Actively mentor majors.
- Design, and offer campus lectures in one's field of expertise and area of interest for the campus community.
- Organize and offer campus lectures of professionals in one's field or related fields
- In collaboration with the Department, identify a special project as a contribution to the Lincoln University community.
- Be a contributing member of departmental and university-required meetings and initiatives, including departmental meetings and events, course and curriculum development, and university-wide initiatives.
- Maintain active professional engagement and research including pursuing a unique project while in residence at Lincoln University.
- Share the University's commitment to fostering an open and supportive academic environment and be prepared to join an active cohort of faculty who teach undergraduate courses and advise/mentor students.
EDUCATION:
- A Ph.D. degree in Psychology
EXPERIENCE:
- Evidence of 2 + years of teaching at the undergraduate level
- Proven agenda of research and professional engagement
- Communication skills consistent with effective teaching, mentoring, and motivating Psychology majors from a broad range of backgrounds, and actively participating in the department and broader university.
- Experience in course design, development, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Experience utilizing LMS such as Canvas and other software
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Moderate lifting up to 20 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects; dexterity to write and manipulate a computer keyboard and mouse; ability to hear and speak clearly; and body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend, and reach.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a university campus environment. All classes are currently taught in person, and faculty are required to be present on campus to teach their courses. The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions and protection from weather conditions.
