Clinical Psychologist (Remote & Night Shift)

Summary:

In support of LAUKOAโ€™s Enterprise Tele-Behavioral Health Clinical Services contract with the Defense Health Agency (DHA), we are seeking qualified candidates to fill our Clinical Psychologist positions. You must physically reside in the United States or United States territories.

Shift: 9-hour shift, 0730-1630 Central Europe Time (CET) (UTC+2); Monday โ€“ Friday Or 11-hour shift that aligns with 0730-1830 Korea/Japan Standard Time (UTC+9), Tuesday โ€“ Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform brief, evidenced-based virtual individual and/or group counseling for low to moderate acuity patients with acute mental health conditions in accordance with military health system model of behavioral health care.
  • Perform duties as a Practitioner and Consultant in Psychology with emphasis on problems of all levels of complexity and must come to the position with knowledge and experience (ideally working with the military population) providing treatment services in routine outpatient services using virtual platforms to low and/or moderate acuity patients. Treatments require very advanced knowledge and/or skill and selection from a variety of alternatives. Make recommendations on major diagnostics and treatment plans. Provide continuing follow-up care for chronic outpatients with acute disorders and complications of these disorders, such as psychosis, organic brain syndrome, substance abuse/addictions, etc. and provide psychiatric care for triage patients presenting with acute illnesses of minor and major proportions. Exercise initiative and sound judgment in
  • Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety. Such direction and interaction will adhere to Government and professional clinical standards and accepted clinical protocols. Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Recommend hospitalization as applicable or determines a service member's fitness for duty; assesses and completes Active-Duty Profiles, Medical Evaluation Board (MEB), Military occupation/Mental Status Evaluations (MSE), command consultations, and other administrative processes from Air Force, Army, and Navy as required and prepare reports of such evaluations according to applicable regulations.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of requirements and benefits of TRICARE and effectively communicate these to TRICARE/DoD beneficiaries. Prepare and maintain convenience file, outpatient medical record, and inpatient record documentation in accordance with service and hospital SOPs. Prepare case summaries and other correspondence in a timely and effective fashion using approved electronic medical record.
  • Exercise clinical judgment in licensure area and proactively supports behavioral health service line in accordance with stated policies and procedures. Skill in written and oral communication especially in case formulation and presentation.
  • Develop, monitor and document comprehensive treatment plans to restore and rehabilitate patients with personal, emotional and/or mental illnesses. Consults reference material, for example the most current version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM), to identify symptoms, make diagnoses, and develop therapeutic or treatment plan, establishing evaluation techniques, developing treatment and rehabilitation plans and providing appropriate therapeutic treatment services. Examine and conduct thorough studies of presenting patients and evaluate laboratory and clinical findings, prescribing appropriate treatment or referring patient to appropriate specialty clinics. Collaborate with physicians in other medical specialties on cases involving complicated and multifaceted problems and provides professional consultation and/or collaborative medical support to other professional staff such as psychologists, advanced practical nurses, social workers, as well as military specific liaison or commanders.
  • Direct Quality Assurance within their area of responsibility and make decisions that have a serious impact on the lives of others, such as recommending hospitalization or determining a service member's fitness for duty or assessing and completing Medical Evaluation Board (MEB), Temporary Disability Retirement List (TDRL) evaluations, psychological autopsies, sanity boards, command consultations, and other administrative processes as required and prepares reports of such evaluations according to applicable regulations. Identify patient treatment needs and arrange for a safe therapeutic outcome. Demonstrate an understanding of requirements and benefits of TRICARE and effectively communicate these to TRICARE/DoD beneficiaries. Prepare and maintain convenience file, outpatient medical record, and inpatient record documentation in accordance with service and hospital SOPs. Prepare case summaries and other correspondence in a timely and effective fashion.
  • Updates patientsโ€™ charts/information within 72 business hours post appointment. Documentation for a high visibility or higher acuity patient shall be updated within COB to allow shared visibility to shared providers. HCW shall follow the SOPโ€™s duty limitations, weapons access assessments. Safety and notification are a multi-disciplinary approach using providers, provider extenders, and case management teams. This solution will focus on low to moderate safety risk patients allowing the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) to focus on the higher needs, specialty needs of Soldiers in person. Provider schedule will follow DHA requirement based on skill type (18-001 has the specifics).

Qualifications:

  • Degree/Education: Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited university or professional school..
  • Internship: Completion of an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship in professional psychology.
  • Experience: Two years of post-graduate experience as a Clinical Psychologist using virtual platforms to perform bio-psychosocial evaluations; develop behavioral health treatment plans; administer Active-Duty Profiles; Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) evaluations; fitness for duty determinations and providing psychotherapy. Candidates with less than two years of experience using virtual platforms will be considered. Preferred candidate will have experience as a Clinical Psychologist using virtual platforms within the MHS. Virtual health experience outside the MHS is acceptable.
  • Licensure/Registration:This position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
  • Conditions of employment: This position requires the contractor to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges. Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
