Job description

We're glad you found us.
Athena Care has been offering high quality, accessible mental health care for over twenty years. If there's one thing we've learned, it's that great care starts with great clinicians who actually feel supported. We're an insurance-based practice growing across Tennessee, and we're looking for a therapist near Memphis to join our team - though if you're somewhere else in TN, let's talk anyway.
We offer psychological testing, IOP/PHP, Spravato/IM Ketamine, TMS, psychotherapy, group therapy, and general psychiatry- often all under one roof. It's a lot - and it means your patients receive genuinely comprehensive care, and you get unique and interesting colleagues.
Who we're looking for
Someone who is curious about people. Someone who finds energy in working with a diverse patient population and cares deeply about the humans sitting across from them. You're fully licensed in Tennessee (LPC-MHSP, LCSW, or LMFT) and ready to practice independently - but that doesn't mean you want to work in isolation. You like collaboration; you value good clinical conversation, and you'd appreciate a team that actually has your back.
What it's like to work here
We've worked hard to combine rigor and high-quality care with a fun and friendly work culture. Our staff aims to quietly take care of operations so you can stay focused on your patients. No drowning in admin chaos. No shouting into a void when you need support. At Athena Care we strive to offer the ideal balance of a small group practice feel on the ground with strong business expertise and technology behind the scenes
Here's what we offer:
  • Flexibility that's actually flexible - part-time fee-for-service, full-time fee-for-service with benefits, salary models that can be shaped around your schedule, and any blend of in-person and remote that works for your life
  • A real multidisciplinary team - you'll collaborate with fellow therapists, PMHNPs, psychiatrists, and psychologists. Real collaboration, not just a org chart bullet point
  • Clinical leadership that's approachable - our support team genuinely wants to help you do your best work
  • Continuity with your patients - outpatient work means you get to walk alongside people over time, which is where the real work happens

Your day-to-day role
You'll provide outpatient therapy to adults, adolescents, and/or children navigating behavioral health challenges. That means assessments, diagnoses, treatment planning, progress notes, and regular collaboration with the broader care team. You'll keep your documentation timely and accurate in our EMR, maintain your licensure, and show up as a thoughtful, engaged member of the team.
Requirements
What we're looking for on paper
  • Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field
  • Tennessee licensure in good standing (LCSW, LPC-MHSP, or LMFT) - we're also open to those with provisional licensure who can work under supervision!
  • Prior experience providing mental health services preferred
  • BLS Certification preferred
  • Comfortable with EMR systems and standard tech tools
  • HIPAA-savvy and committed to ethical, patient-centered practice

A few things we'll ask when you apply
  • What license(s) do you hold in Tennessee?
  • What age ranges do you work with?
  • Are you interested in part-time or full-time?
  • Are you open to a hybrid schedule, and which location are you closest to - Hendersonville, Clarksville, Nashville, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Memphis, or Knoxville?

Benefits include: Health, dental, vision, and life insurance and 401(k) with employer match; continuing education reimbursement, and more!
We'd genuinely love to connect. Reach out and let's see if this could be a good fit - for you and for the people you'll serve.
