Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) - Inpatient
Pay: $55.00 – $59.00 per hour (varies by assignment and experience)
Location: West Virginia (acute psychiatric care facilities)
Schedule: 12-hour shifts (days, evenings, and nights) with rotating weekend coverage
Assignment Length: 16-week contracts with extension opportunities

About the Role
ShareSTAFF is hiring Psychiatric Registered Nurses (RNs) for inpatient mental health and behavioral health assignments at acute psychiatric care facilities in West Virginia. As a Psychiatric RN on our team, you will care for adult patients in acute and long-term inpatient settings, working alongside an interdisciplinary treatment team to administer medications, conduct mental status assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide direct nursing care to individuals living with serious mental illness. This is an ongoing opportunity to join our pipeline for current and upcoming state contract assignments, with weekly pay and dedicated recruiter support throughout your assignment.

What You'll Do
  • Administer psychotropic medications as prescribed by treating physicians and monitor patients for side effects and therapeutic response
  • Conduct mental status assessments and ongoing psychiatric evaluations as part of patient care planning
  • Engage in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to support patients experiencing acute psychiatric distress or behavioral emergencies
  • Participate in Treatment Team Meetings to develop Individualized Treatment Plans, provide consultations, and exchange recommendations with other disciplines
  • Oversee the work of less-experienced Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs)
  • Monitor patient mental and physical status and respond to all medical-related emergencies
  • Communicate with physicians regarding patient care regimens to meet patient care needs
  • Complete timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record per facility policies and procedures
  • Respond to inquiries from family members, advocates, and other interested parties while maintaining HIPAA compliance and confidentiality
  • Testify in court and commitment hearings when deemed necessary
  • Provide all nursing services in a manner consistent with the applicable standard of care
What You Bring - Required
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses, OR active multistate RN license under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
  • No record of prior or pending disciplinary action against your nursing license
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in psychiatric nursing
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current First Aid certification from the American Heart Association
  • Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts including weekend coverage
  • Willingness to work mandatory overtime as needed by the facility
What You Bring - Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Board Certification (PMH-BC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Two or more years of psychiatric nursing experience
  • Combined psychiatric and long-term care experience
  • Experience in state psychiatric hospital, forensic psychiatric, or geriatric psychiatric settings
  • Experience in acute or inpatient psychiatric care settings
  • Crisis intervention training (CPI, PMAB, or equivalent de-escalation certification)
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
