Job description

Homeward Bound Inc., a non-profit, behavioral health facility in Dallas, is looking for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our growing team!

This is a Saturday and Sunday, 8 hours per shift position that could be every week or could be alternated every other week with another provider. There could also occasionally be opportunities for additional PRN hours.

Responsibilities:

- Provide direct patient care for individuals in our crisis residential and crisis respite departments

- Review clinical information on patients transferring from the hospital to the crisis residential unit, do a nurse-to-nurse report, and accept patients appropriate for the program

- Complete a history and physical on each patient accepted including both the nursing assessment and the NP psychiatric evaluation to assess patients' mental health status.

- Prescribe and order medications as needed.

- Transcribe MARS for patients.

- Review and order necessary labwork.

- Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.

- Be available to consult with the LVNs and CMAs working in crisis residential, crisis respite, and detox and assist in training them when needed

-Be adept in chart documentation and guide other staff with documenting appropriately

- Be willing to treat psychiatric and substance use issues simultaneously including medication assisted treatment and detox medication protocols

Preferred experience should include a working knowledge of addiction medicine and 1 year of experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner
