Odyssey House is seeking a Full-Time Residential Psych Medical Assistant to join our team!

Location: Salt Lake City

Compensation: $22.00/hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm

Position Responsibilities:

• Interview program participants to obtain medical information, including psychiatric symptoms and medication side effects, and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
• Show program participants to the examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
• Record program participants’ medical history, vital statistics, and information such as test results in medical records.
• Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians’ instructions to program participants.
• Administer medications, including IM and SQ injections
• Track and process prescription refills, provide prescription information to pharmacies, and manage medication inventory.
• Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
• Manage medical providers’ schedules, including tracking appointment frequency and scheduling with program participants.
• Greet and process program participants as they arrive at the office.
• Inventory and order medical, lab, and office supplies and equipment.
• Perform routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.
• Coordinate with program participants’ outside providers, including medical and psychiatric providers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Licensure / Education / Prior Experience / Skills Required:

• Certified Medical Assistant (or experienced Medical Assistant)
• Willingness and ability to pass a criminal background check
• First Aid and CPR Certification (available at Odyssey House)
• Must comply with annual TB tests and Flu immunization (and others as required).
• Must meet employment eligibility
• Must be able to work variable shifts as needed

Physical Demands of the Job: Ability to lift up to 15 lbs., drive (or adequate alternate transportation), sit for prolonged periods, and perform light to moderate physical activity at times. Able to passively restrain residents without likely injury to self due to existing medical condition.
