POSITION SPECIFICS
Penn State Behrend invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure line teaching position in the undergraduate second degree nursing program. Penn State's B.S.N. degree is offered through the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing at University Park, and at Behrend is administratively situated within the School of Science. As one of the most comprehensive nursing colleges among public universities nationwide, the Nese College of Nursing serves over 2,100 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. Our global footprint enables faculty to create impactful, transformative experiences for students around the world.
This is a 36-week, full-time appointment, with excellent potential for renewal. The position includes full benefits, with an anticipated start date as early as Summer 2026.
Penn State Behrend is an undergraduate and graduate college of The Pennsylvania State University. Job Responsibilities:
  • Coordination and instruction in classroom, simulation lab, and clinical environments in courses such as nursing fundamentals, pharmacology, pathophysiology, health assessment, professional role courses, adult medical-surgical nursing courses, including classroom and clinical teaching, with a preference given to individuals with a background in gerontology or community health.
  • In addition to teaching, responsibilities include advising students, participating in committees, and other service and scholarly activities as appropriate.
  • Help coordinate activities related to the second degree nursing student cohorts including participating in recruitment activities and cohort level advising
  • Show evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and mastery of the subject matter.

Qualifications:
  • Candidates for the position will possess at a minimum a master's degree in nursing and eligibility for RN licensure in Pennsylvania.
  • Individuals with a master's degree will be considered at the rank of lecturer, and individuals with a doctoral degree (e.g. DNP, PhD) will be considered at the rank of assistant teaching professor.
  • An earned Doctorate degree will be a condition of continued employment after the fifth year for a candidate hired as a lecturer.
  • Hold a valid nursing license; and be eligible for RN licensure in Pennsylvania
  • Familiarity with nursing simulation is preferred.
  • A Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification is highly preferred.
