Job description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
Job Summary
The PSR Aide supports the Parish School of Religion (PSR) program by assisting PSR Teachers in providing a welcoming, organized, and faith-centered learning environment for children and youth. PSR Aides help ensure classes run smoothly and support students as they grow in their understanding of the Catholic faith and their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Job Responsibilities
  • Assist PSR Teachers during weekly PSR classes for assigned grade level(s)
  • Support classroom activities, lessons, prayer, and discussions as directed by the PSR Teacher
  • Help prepare materials, set up classrooms, and organize supplies for PSR sessions
  • Provide individual or small-group support to students as needed
  • Assist with maintaining a safe, respectful, and positive classroom environment
  • Help with supervision of students before, during, and after class sessions
  • Support sacramental preparation activities when applicable
  • Communicate respectfully with PSR Teachers, students, parents, and PSR leadership
  • Assist with special events, prayer services, and seasonal activities as needed
  • Follow diocesan and parish policies regarding student supervision and safe environment practices

  • Respectful of and supportive of Catholic teachings and values
  • Willingness to assist in a faith-based educational setting
  • Ability to work well with children and youth
  • Dependable, patient, and able to follow direction from PSR Teachers and leadership
  • Completion of diocesan Safe Environment Training and background check (or willingness to complete upon appointment)
