Job description

CK Associates is seeking an experienced Environmental Air Quality Consultant to join our office in The Woodlands, TX. This position will support a variety of industrial clients by providing air quality permitting, compliance, and regulatory consulting services. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers and senior technical staff to deliver practical, defensible environmental solutions while developing strong client relationships and technical expertise.

Job Summary

Responsible for supporting and managing air quality-related projects, including permitting, compliance reporting, emissions evaluations, and regulatory assessments. This role requires an solid understanding of air quality regulations, emissions calculations, and permitting requirements. The Consultant will work directly with clients and regulatory agencies to help facilities maintain compliance and achieve operational objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise, report preparation, and project management of air quality permitting and compliance projects which meet client expectations;
  • Provide project management by effectively preparing cost proposals, establishing budget and invoicing responsibilities, handling cost overruns, and purchase order upgrades;
  • Assists in business development by obtaining additional opportunities with existing clients as well as promoting business opportunities to potential clients;
  • Compile, coordinate, and write reports and correspondence using technical knowledge;
  • Develop and maintain technical expertise on current and developing air quality regulatory and policy issues while providing technical support and project oversight to other consultants within the air quality group;
  • Mentoring and providing guidance to junior Air staff;
  • Participate in A&WMA and TCEQ workgroups;
  • Interface with regulatory agencies;
Qualifications
  • BS or MS in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in air quality, environmental compliance, or related industry experience.
  • Working knowledge of air permitting and compliance programs, including NSR, PSD, NNSR, Title V, NSPS, and NESHAP requirements.
  • Experience preparing permit applications, emissions inventories, and compliance reports.
  • Knowledge of emissions estimation methodologies and air pollution control technologies.
  • Familiarity with Texas air permitting regulations, including PBRs and Standard Permits, preferred.
  • Strong technical writing, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive client relationships.
  • Must be able to satisfy all Drug & Alcohol, Health & Safety, and Security requirements necessary to access client facilities.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting refinery, petrochemical, natural gas, LNG, or manufacturing facilities.
  • Experience with emissions inventory systems and regulatory reporting programs.
  • Participation in professional organizations such as Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA).
