Job description

Role: Network Technician (L4)
Client: Ciena
Location: Ashburn, VA (100% Onsite)
Duration: Long-term Contract (W2)

 Key Responsibilities

·         Manage deployment project documentation (daily reports, closing docs, engineering updates)

·         Collect, validate, and submit network test records

·         Perform advanced provisioning, troubleshooting, and software upgrades

·         Provide remote support and mentor field technicians

·         Collaborate with Ciena PM and engineering teams

·         Resolve complex technical issues and escalate when required

·         Execute test plans and MOPs (non-intrusive procedures)

·         Commission and provision Ciena equipment

·         Build and troubleshoot circuits end-to-end

Required Experience

·         7+ years in telecom deployment / network support

·         Experience in advanced provisioning & troubleshooting (mandatory)

·         Understanding of blueprints / MOPs (mandatory)

·         Will be using AWS Automation/Workflows so will need a strong aptitude to jump in and use new platforms.

·         Strong troubleshooting skills for complex network/system issues

·         Experience leading or mentoring technicians during maintenance windows

·         Familiarity with network management tools/platforms

·         Strong communication and documentation skills

·         Ability to work independently and in team environments

·         Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Preferred / Nice to Have

·         Experience with Ciena products (preferred, not mandatory overall)

·         Ciena 6500 / RLS – required only for L4 level roles

·         Unix/Linux familiarity

·         Background in NOC or remote support environments

·         Experience supporting North American telecom customers

Education

·         Bachelor’s degree (CS/EE) or equivalent experience
