Job description

General Ledger & Provision Tax Analyst I

The position supports the company’s tax function by preparing and analyzing workpapers for annual tax returns and quarterly provisions, analyzing and updating sales data for general ledger and provision reporting, and preparing tax journal entries and reconciliations for the general ledger.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare audit‑ready worksheets and workpapers for tax documentation
  • Analyze data from software applications to verify correctness
  • Prepare tax filings for manager review at least a week before filing due date
  • Stay on top of day‑to‑day responsibilities to not get behind and create a backlog
  • Keep track of larger project deadlines to stay on target
  • Follow up on email requests for information to keep projects moving
  • Maintain and respond to emails and/or Teams messages in a timely manner
  • Answer inquiries from within the accounting department and other departments
  • Facilitate communication with third parties as needed
  • Update and maintain standard operating procedures for all assigned responsibilities
  • Research tax issues as needed
  • Provide support on additional projects within the tax department as needed
  • Assist with any system/software change implementations
  • Assist other tax department members as necessary to cover deadline requirements
Specific Responsibilities
  • Analyze data and prepare all tax department journal entries monthly
  • Review and analyze tax department reconciliations to complete monthly
  • Facilitate quarterly tax provision requests for data and follow up for inputs
  • Input and analyze data to reconcile in the quarterly tax provision
  • Prepare and maintain monthly general ledger sales data by state
  • Prepare and maintain monthly sales data for VDA liability states
  • Coordinate Research & Development tax credit information for quarterly provision and annual return
  • Analyze meals & entertainment monthly to maintain for quarterly provision and annual tax return
  • Analyze charitable data monthly to maintain for quarterly provision and annual tax return
  • Compile annual tax credit data support for tax returns and maintain quarterly for provisions
  • Prepare, document, and file ACH payments for all income taxes
  • Prepare and reconcile audit support for Federal and state income and sales tax audits when needed
  • Review and analyze/decide response needed for Federal and state income tax letters
  • Review tax email address emails and facilitate within the tax group as needed
  • Prepare and maintain cash flow analysis for providing to FP&A team for tax cash flow
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • 5+ years of experience with corporate income tax, GAAP accounting, general ledger duties, or related analytical role
  • Manufacturing company and/or public company experience is a plus (not required)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Detail‑oriented and organized
  • Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Ability to connect with team members and work cohesively
  • Flexibility with work responsibilities

  • High ownership mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Frequent use of computer systems for analysis and reporting
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work with detailed information
