Mission
Perform functions to provide supervision, counseling, coaching and required resources to assigned drivers of fixed route and paratransit operations to ensure that operations are conducted in compliance with established operating requirements and to suit customer and community needs, working within the limits of standard or accepted practice.
Profile
Essential Functions: Monitors roll out of vehicles, ensures appropriate communication with drivers, and ensures buses are clean and in proper mechanical order.
Operator assigned routes to ensure that buses are on schedules, bus stop signs are in designed locations and to monitor on road operations. Investigate and report on accidents and incidents and act as required by circumstances to resolve problems and maintain service schedules. Bring replacement bus or van to the scene of breakdowns to transport passengers or continue route. Stay with malfunctioning bus or operate van to transport passengers to allow bus to regain schedule commitments. Check for detours and traffic conditions, determine most effective alternative route and report information to dispatcher and drivers. Investigate accidents. Prepare first reports of injury and incident reports; determine when medical attention is required. Represent the organization to the community and to its customers. Respond to inquiries, investigate complaints about signs, benches, or other related field issues. Clean up waste spills created by bus.
Conduct roll in procedures including bus inspections to detect damage. Remove fare box vaults and replace with empty vault. Receive defect slips from drivers. Review requirements and issue to maintenance for required repairs.Monitor and ensure the accuracy of driver and bus assignments and provide procedural direction to dispatchers engaged in driver and bus work assignment. Contribute recommendations for changes to methods and processes based on customer, community, driver, and vehicle requirements.Control special event and community service movements providing oversight and resolving problems. Participate to schedule drivers and vehicles for special events and oversee their participation. Train new employees in classroom and on road activities including defensive driving, bus operation, fare-box procedures, and commercial drivers' license requirements. Assist with the screening of drivers, applicants and recommend candidates for consideration. Prepare performance evaluations, counseling and coaching of assigned employees and contribute information to management for performance review of dispatchers. Conduct on board evaluations of drivers, driving skill, safety issues and interaction withthe public. Prepare documentation of observations and communicate observations to drivers through formal process. Prepare reports to document activities, problems, and exceptions such as road calls, complaints, and accidents. Escort employees for drug tests as result of accident to random selection. Monitor employee attendance. Prepare employee attendance records and reports, determine compliance with policy by individual employees and submit for review by management. Counsel employees regarding attendance and issue warning letters as required. Post and schedule driver vacations in accordance with sign up procedures. Must operate in compliance with Company's EEO policies and procedures. Other Duties May Include but Are Not Limited To: Perform or assist with any company or departmental operations, under direct supervision to maintain workflow. Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition. Ensure safe operating conditions within the area.
CDL A or B with Airbrakes and Passenger Endorsement required.
Transit experience preferred but will train the right person.
Salary: $22.86 per hour
