Position Summary

The Director of Operations will lead all operational activities for Sunrise Technologies, with responsibility for manufacturing, production, quality, continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and operational performance. This role will provide strategic leadership while ensuring day-to-day execution aligns with business objectives, financial targets, and growth initiatives.

Reporting directly to the VP / General Manager, this position is responsible for the leadership and management of the manufacturing, quality, procurement, health and safety, and facilities operations, including assembly management, production planning, purchasing including global sourcing, materials control management, shipping and receiving, and maintenance to ensure the on time delivery of our products implementing the most cost efficient processes while maintaining our superior quality level.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Manage the Documentation and Control System and improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals.
  • Monitor adherence to rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Manage department with the highest level of performance and in accordance with operating policies and procedures.
  • Schedule, prioritize, and assign work to the supervisors in designated work areas. Monitor and check work assignments to ensure quality, efficiency and productivity. Schedule overtime if required, maintain good employee relations, review and adjust staffing requirements as required.
  • Develops, implement, and manage quality plans for incoming, in-process, and outgoing inspections.
  • The position requires an experienced manager with the ability to make suggestions for the development and implementation of organizational strategies, and practices.
  • Develops, qualify, and manage vendors and subcontractors.
  • Manage purchasing, inventory, receiving and customers’ shipments.
  • Participates in daily, weekly, monthly, and annual planning process as appropriate.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Responsible for the selection and development of qualified individuals to ensure all short and long-term staffing needs met and/or exceeded. Further, monitors and mentor individual members to ensure high degrees of skill level and job knowledge.
  • Responsible to develop, implement and manage an adequate maintenance plan to ensure that the facility, equipment, machinery, and tools are functioning in optimal conditions.
  • Assume other responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
  • This position requires a level of knowledge that is usually associated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Operations Management and 5 to 7 years previous operations management experience, including forecasting and scheduling.
  • Experience managing off-shore, high-tech suppliers and vendors.
  • Experience developing and qualifying new vendors and contractors.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment managing quality, production, sourcing, inventory and logistics.
  • Ability to add documented structure to operational systems.
  • Ability to develop, implement and monitor KPI’s, and implement continuous improvement actions.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point, and Teams.
  • Must understand and be proficient in configuring and operating ERP/MRP programs.
  • Materials manufacturing and processing knowledge and experience.
  • Experience supervising, coaching and developing staff.
