Lead a team that brings Apple's most ambitious products to life. We are looking for an exceptional and highly motivated Senior Manager to lead our team's data collection efforts across a variety of core technologies.
Description
In this role, you will own the vision, strategy and execution of large-scale data operations; growing and developing a team of talented engineers while driving alignment across hardware, software, infrastructure and algorithm organizations. A deep understanding of data collection and user study fundamentals, proven people leadership and a strong command of Apple's product ecosystem will be critical to succeeding in our highly dynamic and cross-functional landscape.","responsibilities":"Lead, grow and inspire a team of Data Operations Engineers; setting clear goals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement and developing team members at every career stage
Own the strategic vision for data collection and user study operations, translating organizational priorities into team roadmaps, resource plans and measurable outcomes
Drive large-scale data collections and user studies for algorithm development domestically and internationally, ensuring operational excellence across all phases of execution
Partner at the director level across hardware, software, infrastructure and algorithm teams to define requirements, resolve cross-functional blockers and align on shared priorities
Oversee headcount planning, hiring and onboarding; actively building a diverse, high-performing team
Champion HW/SW platform readiness, directing bring-up and long-term maintenance of pre-release platforms used across multiple locales
Present program health, risks and strategic recommendations to senior and executive leadership with clarity and confidence
Establish and scale operational processes, including documentation standards, vendor management frameworks, study design protocols and data offload practices
Preferred Qualifications
Experience scoping, bidding and contracting third-party vendors for short and long-term projects at scale
Strong background in creating complex roadmaps/schedules with timely delivery across key milestones and multiple concurrent work streams
Exceptional cross-functional influence; a track record of driving alignment and outcomes across engineering, operations and research organizations without direct authority
Motivated and proactive approach to resolving issues and anticipating organizational needs before they become blockers
Challenges the Status Quo: in the absence of process, create it, document it and socialize it. When the process doesn't make sense, drive innovation; when faced with a difficult problem it's not about what we can't do but rather "Yes, but-"
Clear and concise written and verbal communication; able to adapt style fluidly for executive audiences, technical engineers and external vendor partners alike
Sound technical troubleshooting and triage methodology with experience overseeing pre-release hardware and software platforms
Experience creating human-centric data collection protocols and general data offload practices
Minimum Qualifications
BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
3+ years of direct people management experience with a demonstrated track record of building and developing high-performing technical teams
Willingness and ability to travel to Apple and vendor study locations a minimum of 10-15% of the year
Ability to work in an office environment a minimum of 3 days per week
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $183,700 and $319,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You'll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses - including tuition.
