Position Summary

We are seeking a Protocol Specialist to support a branch of the Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS) operations in a professional, fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for coordinating distinguished visits, managing ceremonies and official events, supporting command meetings, and providing administrative and guest-support services. US citizenship is REQUIRED for this position.
Responsibilities
οΏ½ Coordinate base-wide tours and distinguished visits, including itineraries and transportation.
οΏ½ Conduct scheduled tours for newly hired employees, visitors, and other approved guests.
οΏ½ Lead specialized tours for civic groups, schools, government reps, and other designated visitors.
οΏ½ Greet arriving aircraft, arrange visitor transportation, and escort guests throughout the base.
οΏ½ Manage visitor itineraries and ensure smooth, professional guest experience.
οΏ½ Set up and operate audio/visual equipment for meetings and events.
οΏ½ Coordinate the Commanding Officer's conference room schedule and related support tasks.
οΏ½ Attend designated meetings, record minutes, and publish meeting notes.
οΏ½ Maintain weekly briefing materials and keep Command Brief current and accurate.
οΏ½ Plan and support ceremonies, retirements, promotions, awards, receptions, and other official functions.
οΏ½ Prepare invitations, scripts, speeches, and programs as needed.
οΏ½ Support Wardroom social functions and recognition programs.
οΏ½ Assist the Commanding Officer's Secretary and other administrative duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
οΏ½ A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
οΏ½ U.S. citizenship is REQUIRED.
οΏ½ Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
οΏ½ Excellent written and oral communication skills.
οΏ½ Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
οΏ½ Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
οΏ½ Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
οΏ½ Ability to work with minimal government oversight.
οΏ½ Two (2) years of exp.in protocol and event planning, including coordination of ceremonies, receptions, and official events involving dignitaries, military personnel, civilian representatives, and senior officials; preferably in a military or federal setting.
οΏ½ Successfully pass a background check and have public trust or the ability to obtain one.
οΏ½ Ability to obtain Military/DoW Protocol Specialist certification within twelve (12) months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
οΏ½ One year of experience with DHS or U.S. Coast Guard procedures.
οΏ½ Proficiency with ALMIS.
οΏ½ Proficiency with AMMIS.
