The work focuses on investigating the role of epigenetic regulation in the development and resolution of liver diseases.Job Description:

Job Duties

Research Overview:Design and conduct research studies and interpret data under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator (PI).

  • Perform experiments to understand molecular mechanisms of liver disease development. Experiments will involve mouse surgeries, flow cytometry, spatialtranscriptomicsand single-cell sequencing.
  • Perform in vivo experiments in transgenic mouse models of liver injury.
  • Develop and troubleshoot research protocols.
  • Analyze experimental data and interpret results for use in publications, grant applications, anddeterminingthe next steps in the research.
  • Contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts and grant proposals.
  • Collaborate with the PI to design and execute independent experiments.
  • Maintain a current Laboratory Notebook, documenting all calculations, procedures, results, and other relevant research information.

Expectations:The Postdoc will be expected to complete research projects under the guidance of the faculty mentor, record and interpret the results of their experiments in an (electronic) laboratory notebook, prepare publication-quality manuscripts (including figures and tables)and publish in peer-reviewed literature.This appointment istimelimited, consistent with institutional postdoctoral policy.

  • Read literature articles, developnew ideas, and assimilate the information into his/her project design/interpretation.
  • Dissemination of studies: Interact on a regular basis with their PI, facultymentorand members of the laboratory to discuss experimental design and interpretation of results.
  • Present research aims and findings at department seminars and at local and national scientific meetings. Write and publish their results as first author in abstracts, manuscripts, and posters.

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
